Michael Blake, author of Dances with Wolves wrote an op-ed for IDA which they
shared a part of in their flyer. I am only quoting here a small part of that. "Since
1971 our horses have been given no protection at all. They have been shot to
death, poisoned, rustled for slaughter and captured in the tens of thousands by
a government charged with protecting them.
Since I wrote those words nineteen years ago, the genocide of America's wild
horses has accelerated wildly. Today these iconic animals are approaching
extinction."
If you want to help preserve our national heritage - the Wild Horses of the West,
I urge you to go to the In Defense of Animals Internet site to see how you can help.
I am sending the enclosed postcards to Pres. Obama and Dept. of Interior Sec.
Ken Salazar. We are encouraged to also write our representatives and ask
them to endorse a moratorium on future roundups. Yes, I can do more. I hope
you will too if you truly care about these magnificent free-roaming horses of the
West.
