Sometimes we take it as sufficient to have some method for reaching a decision. We take it as sufficient that we follow a well-defined procedure to follow. Perhaps that is one reason we cling to plurality voting; it is a well-defined procedure. But being well-defined is the minimum we should expect for making important decisions. That may make it seem fair, but it is insufficient for achieving good outcomes. We should demand more.
