Thousands protest, defy crackdown in Iran.

Security forces wield batons as crowds chant 'death to the dictator'

"Pro-opposition protestors rally in the streets of Tehran on Thursday. Iranian police fired tear-gas as thousands of demonstrators defied government warnings and staged a march to commemorate the anniversary of bloody student unrest in 1999, witnesses said"

Associated Press, July 9, 2009

It is so difficult to watch young men and women getting killed, beat up, and arrested in the streets of Tehran. A few days ago they brought a couple of these kids to T.V. to confess that they were working for foreign powers. One look at their faces and it was obvious that they had been badly tortured, after all who would confess to such a thing, unless he is badly tortured. Many years ago when we were fighting against the Shah, I had talked to a few friends who were tortured. It is not something you forget .It is happening again, the sadistic thugs are at it again. I do not know what our guilt is. We have been fighting for basic human rights for more than one hundred years, and the result always is the same thing. More death, more torture, more blood.

Our torturers come in different shapes and forms, Kings, King's men, men of god, men of power, men of money, men who like to kill just for the hell of it. There is no one to help; there is not that one hero who kills the hyenas to save the lambs. Even gods are deaf any more. There are vultures everywhere; it is so difficult to keep on going. It is difficult to watch the best of humanity getting beat up in the hands of the worst of the demons. Even gods are deaf.
