Alison Weir's article on "One Day In Gaza”, a film scheduled for Frontline but pulled by PBS.
The demonstrations covered were part of Palestine’s “Great March of Return”. Palestinians and Israelis are interviewed. Coverage of the carnage, as Palestinians protest and snipers pick off individuals, is uncompromising and harrowing. The contrast between blood-soaked victims and the sudden shift to celebrations at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is jarring. But the hour spent viewing this Frontline-quashed film is like a slap in the face for anyone dulled by sanitized imagery of mainstream media. It is about the life of crushed and desperate people with nothing else to lose.
