Immediate Release: Attention Californians, & anyone who wants to see what a GENUINE education  proposition looks like. The Network for Public Education and the Network for Public Education Action, support California Proposition 55 which prevents billions in budget cuts without raising taxes -- by ensuring  that the wealthiest Californians continue to pay their share Under Prop 55, which requires  strict accountability and transparency, the money must go to local schools and the Legislature can't touch it. These  requirements ensure funds designated for education go to classrooms, not to administrative costs. It also gives control to school boards to determine student needs.   Prop 55 maintains the current income tax rate on couples earning over $500,000 a year, only affecting the wealthiest Californians.  "We can't afford to go back to the days of devastating cuts and teacher layoffs."
