NASA calls it the "Double Asteroid Redirection Test," or DART for short, and the mission involves NASA launching a spacecraft that will rocket towards the Didymos binary asteroid and collide with it. NASA wants to test if the impact of the spacecraft colliding with the asteroid will be enough to alter its course.

That's what I'm talking about ! This event is historic so tune in as humanity strikes its first blow against the Universe, or as I like to phrase it, "God". This fickle organization that doesn't give a rat's ass if we live or die is in for some devilry and we're going to deliver it. All our petty quarrels seem ludicrous by comparison, but it's our inclination to quarrel that has put us in the catbird's seat, when it comes to defending the only planet we have, and possibly the only habitable planet in the Universe.

Rob says I have to respond to comments on articles I recommend. I'd say, since you asked, your first thought is negative because you are a depressive? Astronauts died in at least two attempts to reach Heaven; didn't stop us, did it? However this is a mechanical operation, sans astronauts, and what can't end well is Armageddon, predicted by the first astrophysicists, among them Three Wise Men, alarmed by what they perceived was our likely End, once they spied the fickle Universe's tendency to shower the planet with loose parts. At the time they couldn't have known about the atomic power we'd stumble on, and so their only advice was prayer. Our one and only job, and why we get away with murder down here, is to prevent this, and we're doing a smashing job so far. You should cheer up and cheer on these brave, perceptive people who know very well what they're doing. They're going to save the planet, and that's a good thing.

Gezz Molly! Depressesd?

You are soooooooooooo completely off base; obviously you haven't read my work on "mining the asteroid belt", or my argument in the 70's for building a Van Braun Centrifugal station instead of the space platform Liberty (I didn't get my way, I shut up, now I'm a member of Gateway Foundation).

I still believe and promote a permanent Centrifugal station in the Earth-Moon L4 or L5 Lagrange point (L1 if we want it in front of the moon) and it's too big of a job and necessary for humanity to be strictly commercial endeavor for billionaires or corporations. Instead of crashing our space junk back into earth as the go-to disposal (and after spending all those resources and $$ putting the mass into orbit) how about using L3 as an official "junkyard" parking orbit.

LaGrange Centrifugal Space station, Moon base, Mars Demos moon base (or Phobos), Mars base, Asteroid Mining Operations, Ganymede, Callisto, Europa, Venus Orbital Station, Mercury Autonomous solar observation.

I'm thinking more along the lines of man's hubris, especially in calculating long term consequences of cascading events. You know, like placing a Nuclear Reactor directly on top of an active earthquake fault (Diablo Canyon), or launching a space shuttle in time to show case a presidential address - overriding Senior Engineers warnings, protests, and evidence of previous ORings launch environment cold temperature failures.

Fear? Naw - from stardust we come, back to dust we go, the elements of our bodies are from beyond deep time. Conservation of energy alone demands that the soul continues on (whatever that is). The only hope we have for the continuation of homo sapiens is to establish a permeant presence and expansion into our solar system and eventually to Alpha Centauri and beyond.

David,

May I suggest becoming familiar with the work of Ken Wilber and Stephen Greer - both of whom discuss different levels of reality and consciousness - the physical, subtle, causal, and nondual? Without this understanding our efforts may be doomed to failure.

Werner von Braun - both on his death-bed and in the 2 years preceding his death told Carol Rosen that there was a plan vis-a- vis the MIC's enemies.

Our enemies in this order would be the communists, rogue states, terrorists, asteroids (so we could put weapons in space), and the last card - the extraterrestrials.

For more on this, see "Cosmic Hoax" on Youtube by Dr. Steven Greer.

Again, this effort isn't ours; it's built in. All the supposed heroes and villains are for our amusement, as we slog toward proficiency where "no man has ever gone before.' Unless, of course, it's exactly where we've gone before, who knows how many times before? My point is there's no getting around it, and dealing with asteroids is like kittens playing with wool, until the real thing comes along, in our case, a very long trip to another, similar ball.

The Ark part is one of evolving DNA information for each creature that gets produced, even if we aren't there, including Humans. The memory they would have of this would be sketchy. Here I'm giving Creationists room to wiggle. The tenacity with which some grip these revelations, despite their absurdity, has always fascinated me. But if we can make a bladder, an esophagus or trachea, how far behind is an entire creature?

Molly,

An important key, as I see it, has to do with power and its misuse. If interested, see "Cosmic Hoax" by Steven Greer on Youtube.
