Early in its, and his, career, my father, who produced Silly Putty, somehow befriended Harvey Kurtzman, and my life as a political junky began, though I was barely ten. So Silly Putty was employed in at least one article, and issues of Mad lay around the house for years.

The magazine was a pillar of political satire and should be revered along with Kurtzman. Using the fun of the comic book format was a brilliant and theretofore unexplored mode. We could use a little more humor here on Op Ed, methinks. Satire is the butter on the bread of political resistance, and you can quote me on that.
