Ivermectin, used to treat parasitic infections in animals, can be effective in treating COVID-19 infection in humans.  Now the NIH has approved use of Ivermectin for combatting COVID-19.  Beware, however--Used to treat horses, Ivermectin dosage must be moderated for much-smaller humans.

Since the last revision of this section of the Guidelines, the results of several randomized trials and retrospective cohort studies of ivermectin use in patients with COVID-19 have been published in peer-reviewed journals or have been made available as manuscripts ahead of peer review. Some clinical studies showed no benefits or worsening of disease after ivermectin use, 21-24 whereas others reported shorter time to resolution of disease manifestations that were attributed to COVID-19,25-28 greater reduction in inflammatory marker levels,26,27 shorter time to viral clearance,21,26 or lower mortality rates in patients who received ivermectin than in patients who received comparator drugs or placebo.

Ivermectin

The World Health Organisation, WHO has joined the growing list of health bodies warning against the use of the generic anti-parasite drug ivermectin in patients with COVID-19 except for clinical trials, because of a lack of data demonstrating its benefits.

The European Medicines Agency, and the US Food and Drug Administration, FDA, had recommended against the use of the drug for COVID-19. Merck, a pharmaceutical company that manufactures ivermectin, has also said its analysis did not support the drug's safety and efficacy for COVID-19.

Don't use Ivermectin to treat COVID-19 patients, WHO, others caution

Here's What You Need to Know about Ivermectin

  • FDA has not approved ivermectin for use in treating or preventing COVID-19 in humans. Ivermectin tablets are approved at very specific doses for some parasitic worms, and there are topical (on the skin) formulations for head lice and skin conditions like rosacea. Ivermectin is not an anti-viral (a drug for treating viruses).
  • Taking large doses of this drug is dangerous and can cause serious harm.
  • If you have a prescription for ivermectin for an FDA-approved use, get it from a legitimate source and take it exactly as prescribed.
  • Never use medications intended for animals on yourself. Ivermectin preparations for animals are very different from those approved for humans.

Where do you come up with these "web sites"? Between your severely impaired reading comprehension and complete lack of powers of intellectual discrimination, you apparently would like people to believe that whatever fraudulent drek you spew on this site is, by definition, "a fact".

This most recent exercise in nonsense is a classic example:

In a move that frontline physicians across the country believe may bring about a turning point in the pandemic, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) last week revised its guidelines on ivermectin (IVM), making the anti-parasitic "wonder" drug an option for treatment of Covid-19.

The federal agency's shift from opposition to "neither-for-or-against" was widely applauded by frontline doctors battling Covid.

Ivermectin is already approved by the FDA and is on the World Health Organization's list of model list of essential medicines. But the federal agency had until now advised against its use for Covid-19 outside of a hospital setting or clinical trial. The agency's website now informs viewers that the NIH is neutral on the subject.

What the NIH Report (which is the first link of mine which you could not read) actually said:

Since the last revision of this section of the Guidelines, the results of several randomized trials and retrospective cohort studies of ivermectin use in patients with COVID-19 have been published in peer-reviewed journals or have been made available as manuscripts ahead of peer review. Some clinical studies showed no benefits or worsening of disease after ivermectin use,21-24 whereas others reported shorter time to resolution of disease manifestations that were attributed to COVID-19,25-28 greater reduction in inflammatory marker levels,26,27 shorter time to viral clearance,21,26 or lower mortality rates in patients who received ivermectin than in patients who received comparator drugs or placebo.21,26,28

In other words, there are just too many conflicting studies, or there are, at this point, too few to recommend its use. More study is necessary, but only a fool would go ahead and use it now anyway.

The study DOES say this:

However, most of these studies had incomplete information and significant methodological limitations, which make it difficult to exclude common causes of bias. These limitations include:

  • The sample size of most of the trials was small.
  • Various doses and schedules of ivermectin were used.
  • Some of the randomized controlled trials were open-label studies in which neither the participants nor the investigators were blinded to the treatment arms.
  • Patients received various concomitant medications (e.g., doxycycline, hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, zinc, corticosteroids) in addition to ivermectin or the comparator drug. This confounded the assessment of the efficacy or safety of ivermectin.
  • The severity of COVID-19 in the study participants was not always well described.
  • The study outcome measures were not always clearly defined.
  • Not exactly the resounding endorsement that your bozo web site suggests.

Also, the study included this warning:

  • The FDA issued a warning in April 2020 that ivermectin intended for use in animals should not be used to treat COVID-19 in humans.
  • And:

The safety of using ivermectin in children weighing

They are not "Neutral", they simply are stating that there has not been nearly enough study of the subject to recommend it's use, and are continuing to wait for conclusive data one way or the other.

But this, of course, this hasn't stop the know-nothings from doing the only thing they how to do:

Misinforming others and irresponsibly encouraging behavior which could kill or seriously disable them.

Why don't you and your friends just learn to play golf and feed the pigeons, like any self-respecting retiree who knows their place in society does?

You're f'n ridiculous. Of course WHO would advise against a cheap drug that has had amazing results because it could end up messing up BG's plans on vaccinating 7 billion people and costing him billions.

In Idaho, 0.5% of fully vaccinated people test positive for COVID-19 (msn.com)

Who's ridiculous? Pfizer only claimed a 95% efficacy rate. Your article simply claims that it's actually 99.5% effective.

Leave this stuff to the grown-ups. You're just embarrassing yourself over and over again...

Probably the place to get the most information about Ivermectin in one place is the website of the Front Line COVID-10 Critical Care Alliance, which, as the name implies, is an association of physicians with wide experience treating Covid patients. There you can find protocols for prophylaxis and treatment, detailed world-wide trials and metastudies of trials information, video presentations, and a whole lot more.

Besides the FLCCC, there are several good physicians offering YouTube videos about Ivermectin and other Covid related topics.

Ivermectin is used successfully in several countries and regions of countries to treat Covid patients, and some of the above sources discuss that.

It really amazes me that anyone still would treat this topic as some kind of wacky conspiracy. On a personal note, I've been taking the "horse paste" form prophylactically on a weekly basis for months. I could order it from India or find a US doctor to prescribe the human medicinal form, but, since the animal form contains nothing but Ivermectin and some flavorings (which only a horse would love), I haven't seen a reason to bother to change. It should be noted that Ivermectin has been given to more than four *billion* humans, mostly in tropical third worlds countries, and has an exemplary safety record. The same dose is used for Covid prevention or treatment as is used for Ivermectin's "on label" use as an anti-parasite.
