The Congressional Research Institute published a page containing more than 150 articles on how the advent of the secret [Australian] ballot ended the age of the Robber Barons and intimidation forcing voters to favor their bosses' candidates. Encyclopedic! No more glass jars revealing preferred candidates. But other issues have since interceded. Votes by so many of us are demographically transparent. There's another sort of Gilded Age to end now, one in which .5% own 20% of the world's wealth. Intimidation takes many forms these days. So does every other form of corruption conceivable.
