The trend can be traced back to the passing of the news cycle about his "shithole countries" remark from the middle of last month. And the trend has been noticed by observers.
"I have noticed," Alex Conant, a Republican strategist and communications director for Sen. Marco Rubio's 2016 presidential campaign, told Business Insider in an email. "The president's shown more message discipline in the last month than he did in all of 2017.
