This is an excellent fact sheet for putting today's immigration debate in perspective. Anti-immigrant arguments often start with: 'Why can't today's immigrants come legally, like my ancestors?' But there is a huge difference between the two eras. Sadly, many immigration laws were aimed at certain countries/ethnic groups. Dreamers and their parents didn't have the options previous generations of Americans had.
