In his must-read memoir of his war-planning years, The Doomsday Machine, Daniel Ellsberg describes how Cheney (citing a Seymour Hersh piece, “Last Stand,” New Yorker, April 10–17, 2006) had put forth plans to nuke Iran:
In 2005–2006 there were articles304 by the Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist Seymour Hersh and the former CIA station chief Philip Giraldi regarding U.S. contingency plans, on the directive of Vice President Richard Cheney, for a “large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons.”
Now, here, Chris Hedges describes how Cheney and daughter Lynne entered the House chamber on Jan 6, the only Republicans present, and received warm hands for the support they showed in dealing with Jan 6 farce. All happiness now. Mission Accomplished for the ex-Halliburton CEO.
