'Maybe—I am not affirming it—these [NGO people] are carrying out some criminal actions to draw attention against me, against the government of Brazil,' Bolsonaro said in a video posted on his Facebook account, The Associated Press reported. 'This is the war we are facing.”

A very quick search of past fires in the Amazonian jungles will, reveal they have these fires at this time of the year, EVERY YEAR.

The majority of which are ILLEGALLY lit by farmers intent on increasing their holdings, not just for beef, but soya beans and palm oil amongst many others. Before this year, the lighting of such fires was ILLEGAL, but since the newly elected Government has stated they intend to clear and make productive much of this jungle, one could say it was a green light by their Government to the farmers to get to work lighting fires. It is possible, some of those fires have become uncontrollable and are now raging wildly. So their President is not totally wrong in what he's saying. IMHO.

I've been following news on the Amazon rainforest since the early seventies. I hear you well, but as Sam Mitchell says, "Bozonaro needs to go." No qualifiers there, imo.
