Rekognition was always going to be surveillance tech for government agencies...

... there is the possibility for facial-recognition technology to know everywhere we are going, who we’re with, and what we’re doing.

... Amazon has plans for voice-recognition technology , too. In April, the company patented “an algorithm that would allow its Alexa assistant to listen in on any conversation without requiring a wake word.

This facial-recognition technology can search against millions of faces in real time – and be used to track protesters, target immigrants, and spy on entire neighborhoods.

I have to say, the articles and links I find daily on OEN are by in large excellent, insightful, educational, and then some just maddening and depressive (based on content, not the author).

I have to say, I read too much news and other than good news of locals helping locals and some environmental successes, much of it is war, death, destruction, human rights abuses, surveillance, glyphosate in most of us, the consequences of unfettered greed, the joke that the US is a force for peace around the world, and obscene and unsustainable defense spending to to the detriment of our country and people....

I have to say, for Memorial Day tomorrow, "R.I.P America" and before you go, you might as well take down the plaque on the Statue of Liberty.

Yup. All these creative skills that could be directed to the betterment of our species and the planet, and the empowerment of all of us, are instead vacuumed up by the MIC and the corporate profit agenda, and added to the list of things to be used against us.
