'Last year, I woke up to organize w/ my community & waitressed to make ends meet. Today, staggeringly, I woke up to this. I believe in an America where all things are possible. Where a basic, dignified life isn’t a dream, but a norm. That’s why I got up then,& why I get up now.'

Since beating 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley to represent New York’s 14th District last June, the 29-year-old former bartender has pressured 2020 presidential candidates into supporting her Green New Deal, made campaign-finance reform go viral and helped activists banish Amazon from Queens with a couple of tweets. No lawmaker in recent memory has translated so few votes into so much political and social capital so quickly. Her Twitter following has climbed from about 49,000 last summer to more than 3.5 million.

Do we really need to push Kardashian-like tweet-gal, click bait yet again? 15 minutes should be up...but hey Trump's made it last for decades.

Your comment is extraneous and really quite far removed from reality. This new member of Congress making the cover of Time is important news. I am not pushing anything, certainly not what you describe as a "Kardashian-like tweet-gal, click bait,"

It's not extraneous. It's how I view it. You may view it differently, and apparently do. I don't disagree with some of the positions she's taken, just how she's gone about it and whether or not that "how" actually undermines the message - she becomes the message.

She is fallen for many of the ruses of the establishment, like twitter-fighting with right-wing media hosts, late night talk show entertainment, and volleying with the current twitter-bug POTUS. And the big ruse of all: How are you going to pay for it? This is not serious. MMT is now debated instead of downsizing the MIC and endless war, and 800+ global bases.

Appearing on the cover is more of the "celebrity du jour" we've seen repeatedly. She's young and seems to have embraced the celebrity role. What she says looses its importance. And it would seem that's the ultimate point, to coopt the message by encumbering it in American Consumerism ala Yahoo news, et al.

Compare how she is treated on the talk show interview (keep in mind this is an entertainment show) .youtube.com/watch?v=N7n9gH_uy3k with how Tulsi Gabbard was treated by that same host: click here.

Comparing her in any way to any of the Kardashians is ridiculous, but I am glad you clarified your thinking a bit.

Kardashian is the celebrity phenom that over takes substance. Obama is an example, it's the cult of personality, the capitalist rendering of any and all threats, perceived or real, the deadening of the senses. Kardashian is an wxtreme version.

Then why compare AOC to any of the Kardashians?

That is like comparing Bernie Sanders to some NASCAR champion or football star....even more vulgar than that.

Time magazine doesn't put pop trash on its cover.

Time magazine puts on its cover what will sell.

As I said Kardashians emerged in the same way, as phenomenon to be consumed. The mere repetition has made them exceedingly rich.

I provided 2 links 1 of AOC and the other of Tulsi Gabbard each interviewed by the same entertainment host.

The difference is glaring and presents my case. You could say that AOC is a young novice but than why is she being trotted out as the face of anything. It's all celebrity American style. Smile for the camera.

Authenticity is hard to find in a show biz world, and when it is found, it is marginalized and disappeared.
