Oreo, Reverse Oreo--How does the Cooky Crumble?

Mix a question of who's more vanilla or chocolate--and you've got a question of where investigative journalism fits. Chris Hedges took a stab at answering it. To soft pedal his role--let it be stated that his article is analysis and not reportage. He has reason to see President Obama's politics as it reflects his values. Even Reverend Wright of Trinity Church mentioned that. "A politician," he said.

Harvard or Princeton. Corporations or "the People." We all take a shot at the guy at the helm. As a Lily White who lived in Chicago for 22 years, I understand. As someone who has followed Professor Cornel West's work, I see his point of view. To get into the middle of a verbal fisticuff between two noted black men leaves me with nothing but concern over how politics is proceeding these days. All seems to point back to the 2008 election and high hopes of change. Even Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was a contender in the 08 campaign. I feel she is hovering over the general unrest which prevails today. A lady professor with Princeton gave added wordage concerning two African-American brothers.

I support Marian Wright Edelman, a friend of Hillary. Since the days of President Nixon's issue of Watergate and impeachment, the Children's Defense Fund has advocated for those too young to speak for themselves. Hillary could help as she makes statements from Foggy Bottom.

As for whether Obama and West have projects to further, I won't invade territory where my views are not hefty enough to quote Shakespeare or the Democratic platform. But I will say this. Two black guys have a right to disagree, just as two white guys do. I'll try to steer clear of just politics. As for Chris Hedges, he's on his own. I can't match his metaphors this time.

My take--A hungry, undereducated child needs some adult help. Let grownups recognize where they can participate. It's my definition of Progressivism.

Margaret Bassett passed away August 21, 2011. She was a treasured member of the Opednews.com editorial team for four years.

Margaret Bassett--OEN editor--is an 89-year old, currently living in senior housing, with a lifelong interest in political philosophy. Bachelors from State University of Iowa (1944) and Masters from Roosevelt University (1975) help to unravel important requirements for modern communication. Early introduction to computer science (1966) trumps them. It's payback time. She's been "entitled" so long she hopes to find some good coming off the keyboard into the lives of those who come after her.
