Let's see. Obama tells kids that it's up to them to work hard and study and go to college, or they won't get, and don't deserve, a good job. He tells them that America needs them to do well in school so that the US can prevail over all the other countries in the world.
So Obama goes along with the prevailing memes of the US capitalist system. It's a dog-eat-dog world in which it's up to the individual to fight their way to the top, and if you fail, you deserve to live in the streets, that the US will use your brains and labor to prevail over the rest of the world, and all you get out of it is a job. And you're lucky to get that! Sounds like capitalism to me.
Socialism is a system where the workers own, operate and control the means of production, and the product is shared. No private owners, no ruling class, no oppressive state.
Obama in no way called for such a system, nor would he. He supports using public money to bail out failed capitalists. This is not socialism, either. This is the merger of corporatism and the state, what Mussolini called "fascism".
Only a truly brainwashed populace would believe that a clarion call for capitalism is "socialist".
