Re: “U.S. birth rates at highest since booming 1961” DP 1/16/08

Does anyone understand or possess a clue as to how this civililzation can continue on its stupid, insane and unsustainable path toward the future by adding 3.5 million people annually?   How can we continue arguing about fluff stuff when the foundation of our environment degrades daily via population onslaught?

Below you will find a discussion in Denver, Colorado that harkens the stupidity of the top editors and publishers of this nation's top 100 newspapers.  They ignore, obfuscate and suppress any news about our single greatest crisis of the 21st century: overpopulation in America.

Dorothy Bradley responded to a Denver Post article showing Colorado added 100,000 people in 2007 as well as the US birth rate turned into a baby explosion.

She wrote, “You state ‘good news’ about the birth boom, but you ignore the bad news: rising fertility rates combined with massive immigration have been making  our population numbers skyrocket…if we don’t want to reach a half billion, we have to wake up now.”

The question remains: why do the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News celebrate overpopulation in Colorado?  The editors never state the ominous consequences of unlimited growth.  In fact, Vince Carroll of the RMN emailed me saying that population was not a problem. Which proves to me that he doesn’t understand nor comprehend our dilemma!  You could say he stands on the bridge with Captain Edward John Smith of the Titanic!  Icebergs be damned—full population overload ahead!

Why do educated publishers and staff laud massive population growth when it clearly degrades our quality of life and sustainability?

If you want a visual of what’s happening, visit www.peterrussell.com and click on the ‘World Clock” for a sobering look at our human population mess.  Or, go to www.populationmedia.org for a point blank reality check.  You will also be treated to how much our leaders worldwide spend on military at $1 million a minute.  Can you imagine what the world would be like if we spent that money on bettering humanity?

Why would the DP and RMN celebrate the USA adding 300 million within 50 years or doubling our current population?  Why do they feel immune to the consequences we face?   Have you seen the movie, “Dumb and Dumber”?

Why do they report Colorado lost 1.65 million acres of land in the past ten years and Colorado expects to lose 3.1 million more acres as we add another 1.5 to 2.0  million people by 2022?    What works or doesn’t work in their ink-print filled brains?  What don’t they understand about limited water, space, habitat and clean air?

How many of them would merit a position of captain of the Titanic?

With every added person in the USA, we lose 12.6 acres to what scientists call an “Ecological Footprint” or the amount of space destroyed to support each new American.  Each added American uses 25.55 barrels of oil annually.  Each added citizen uses 12,331 kilowatt-hours of electricity and 1,932 cubic meters of water.

In other words, the average added American uses 10 times to as high as 30 times more raw resources than a third world person. Therefore, the faster and more we immigrate two million people into our country annually, the sooner we degrade our ability to sustain our population.

Clearly, we attempt to gain five quarts of water out of a one gallon can.

Are such journalists as Dean Singleton, John Temple, David Harsanyi, Greene and others brain dead, dense or living in denial?   Why won’t they turn their mighty quills to Colorado’s greatest crisis in the coming decades?  Answer: refer to the aforementioned movie.

Colorado expects to add five to six million by mid century.  That incredible numbers proves a disaster for this state while the USA adds 100 million.

Wouldn’t you think that anyone with a three digit IQ in a leadership position of a major newspaper would advocate for “Environmental Impact Policy” statements?  How about “Colorado Carrying Capacity Policy” or “Colorado Sustainable Population Policy” and, what about a “Colorado Water Usage Policy”?

Nope!  Temple, Singleton, Ritter, RM PBS and the boys report the consequences but never allow anyone to write about or report on the population iceberg right in front of us.  Reasoned debate, reasoned discussion be damned!  Full steam ahead with more growth, more population and more people!  That defines the signature state of a cancer cell!

What about your newspapers editors in your locale?  Do they practice the same kind of stupidity?   If they do, it's up to you to change their brains. It's up to you to get up close and personal with your quill.   As this presidential debate intensifies, we must move immigration driven population to the forefront of our nation's issues.
