Diary: ALERT:Why do we need a Constitutional Convention?

With all the abuse the US Constitution has suffered, “We the People” don’t need it changed in whole until it is RESTORED. What else will they do once they are together? We have just withinthe last 36 hours or so discovered that a House Joint Resolution calling for a Constitutional Convention is being ramrodded through both houses of the Ohio legislature. There is to be a hearing, without public testimony, and a vote on this coming Wednesday. That means that Senators and Representatives need to be bombarded with calls to stop it on Monday and Tuesday! It may be a move by the Ohio "Republicans" to get some good PR on the budget. Note the exception in this balance budget resolution (above) for war.

First, the amendment shall require the President to submit and the Congress to adopt only balanced budgets for all federal programs and agencies, except in times of war.

So we just stay at war all the time? But we’re not at war now, are we? To quote a demican (who shall remain nameless), :”it depends on that the definition of “is” is.”

Second, the amendment shall grant the President the authority to disapprove any item or items in any bill presented by the Congress to the President in addition to the President's authority to disapprove entire bills pursuant to Article I, Section 7 of the United States Constitution.

Third, the amendment shall require the President to submit and the Congress to adopt budgets for all federal programs and agencies on a biennial rather than annual basis; and be it further

The way they are creating money, I guess it is only prudent to guestimate for 6 months because the dollar won’t be worth nearly the same thing a year out. I do know our Ohio legislature does like to pass the most questionable bills right before the winter recess.
