If you watch Keith Olbermann, you might leave MSNBC on long enough to see Joe Scarborough sliming Rosie O'Donnell, along with his parrot chamber of dimwitted bloviating commentators. She's talking like a progressive, about things that are banned on the more centrist democratic sites. So Scarborough gets a right winger and a moderate and calls her crazy and worse... article and youtube videos, in case you've missed these hit jobs, below.
We made some changes to the way we handle emailing our newsletters, and I'm not sure the last few got through. So... here's a link to yesterday's newsletter and here's a link to Monday's newsletter
In case you didn't see it, we DID make our fund raising goal. Then I had a conversation with another progressive site's managing editor. Basically, we aimed to raise under $3000 for the month. I found out that one of the other main progressive sites receives over $2.5 million in funding, has a staff of 20, and... OpEdNews routinely sees higher page view rankings than that site. The idea of having a staff of 20 is a beautiful thing-- an investigative reporter in Washington, a think tank team doing reports for politicians and digging up research that makes a difference.... I mean, look at what we're doing with volunteers. Bottom line, OpEdNEws needs to get a lot more funding from members and needs to start asking foundations for support. HEre we are, almost a week into the month and now, I have to start shooting for raising the $3000 again. It would be nice to take that up to $4000 or $5000. Please help us get there. Donate today. We can only survive and, hopefully, thrive, with your support.
How You Can Help OpEdNews There are other ways you can help besides contributing money. We could use:
- a few computers-- decent speed and memory-- desktop or notebook.
- a digital video camera, and or help learning how to record youtube videos from TV.
- a decent digital camera with an optical zoom of at least eight.
- some air miles for travel for me and our voting integrity editor Joan Brunwasser. Joan needs miles to fly to Washington DC for the Take Back America conference. I'll need them in August to Attend the Daily Kos conference in Chicago.
Then, there's volunteer work
Be one of our experts We would love to have help covering subject areas that YOU care about-- It could be women's rights, men's rights, taxation, the middle class, health care, car safety, corporatism... we'd like volunteers to help cover any field or subject area, so we don't just do an okay job, we do a spectacular job. That means you would help post links to important articles, recruit writers, write articles yourself... and make the subject YOUR turf. You don't have to be a noted expert. You just have to care and be willing to put in some time.
We also need editors for our article queue-- the articles that our members submit for publication. All need to be evaluated, some need editing.
