I have received perhaps 5 letters in the past year from the Alabama delegation-----all of course Republicans-----and all could have been written by one person and could have addressed any of a dozen topics. My last series of letters asked the question of each legislator for their opinion of Cheney’s admission to torture, and each response was almost the same. “Thank you for sharing your ideas with me------------your opinion is very important to me---------I will definitely keep your views in mind----------feel free to contact me again. In other words, the cockroach letter. If you do not know the cockroach letter, so inform me and I will give you the full version.  Lets face it, these people or not that much unlike your representatives, in that they are much smarter, better informed, and will do what is best for each of us. At least that is what they believe and that is why we get letters like the ones I refer to, that are put in the simplest of language so that we, the ones of limited intellectual acumen can comprehend them. My problem with people like Sen. Jeff Sessions, Al. is that he has been on the government payroll his entire life, has no more experience in business than a business professor and yet is making major decisions for our economy. The majority of these elected officials are controlled by the people that have given the biggest bucks, who also consider themselves much smarter than you and I. These are the guys that believe, “what is good for Bull Moose is good for the country” and labor unions, welfare, arts and education, healthcare, and minority rights are simply not that important to Bull Moose.  The election of Barack Obama was the result in my opinion, of the American people getting to the point of, “I am just not going to take this a minute longer” and a very sophisticated campaign by President Obama. If this same energy that elected our first African American President can be used to replace enough of Congress and give religion to the rest, then maybe, just maybe we can avoid the disaster looking us in the face.
