Gingrich in South Carolina... Where Up is Down
(6 comments) In reality, if the press brought up the facts about what Gingrich was doing while he was trying to impeach Clinton, maybe then South Carolinians would care just a little more about his hypocritical behavior. The evangelical Christians here are forgiving, but hypocrisy isn't tolerated well in this State. For someone who attacks the media on a constant basis, they sure dis a good job at hiding certain facts for him.

Wall Street is at it Again! This Time It's France!
(3 comments) Now the banks in the United States are inundating France with credit default swaps. France has more credit default swaps was than it ever had in its history. This is being caused by investors from America and the UK. According to Max Keiser from RT, the Americans and the Brits know exactly where the bodies are buried in France, and know just what assets they are betting against.

Occupy to Shut Down West Coast Ports Monday
(3 comments) Occupy is at it again. Tomorrow morning, Monday 12/12, Occupy will shut down All West Coast ports from Seattle to San Diego. Houston Occupy has indicated that they will join in with solidarity and shut down the Port of Houston.

Restoring the United States to a Representative Democracy
(4 comments) This amendment offered by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) seems to be the only shot we have at destroying corporate influence on the politics of this nation. Our Senators and Representatives are being bought like cattle. They only exist to run for another term.

S 1867: Killing The Bill of Rights and Declaring War on Americans
(22 comments) Once this becomes law, you will be living in a different kind of America, one that no longer guarantees certain inalienable rights. Americans will have no rights whatsoever in America -- no due process, no First Amendment speech rights, no right to remain silent or to be tried by a jury of your peers. You will only have the right to a military tribunal with a military judge and a military lawyer.

Don't Forget About Us
(2 comments) Then there was the economic collapse of 2008. Corporations (including Obama's largest campaign donor Goldman Sachs) started going belly-up because they had rigged the system and were betting on everything under the sun like it was a giant casino. A bail-out was proposed and the American people went ballistic, writing their Congress critters telling them not to give these crooks anything.

The Democratic Minefield
(2 comments) "The Democrats seem to think the Republicans really want a compromise on deficit reduction, but the Republicans aren't primarily concerned about the deficit at all. What they want is to give tax cuts to the rich and pay for it by dismantling the social safety net." Gee, ya think?

Think the Occupy movement is Dead? Think Again.
(3 comments) Today we watched as Occupy movements in Oakland and New York and many other cities that have Occupy groups finally moved on the encampments. Most of these cities had their Mayors participate in a conference call on Tuesday. They seem to have come up with a unified response to the Occupy Movement. All I can say is that these measures are pointless.

Occupy and the AFL-CIO at the Republican Debate in Spartanburg, SC
(3 comments) The Occupy people really didn't need or ask help from the union people. It was real nice of them to join us and walk with us, but I was just a little pissed-off that they attempted to co-opt the protest. They didn't ask any of the Occupy people to speak at their meeting and that was kind of a slap in the face

The Logical Outcome Of The Occupy Movement
(1 comments) One thing has become abundantly clear, and this is probably the most important part of the movement; most of the 99%'ers are not asking the United States government to do a thing. This is the part that the mainstream media cannot comprehend. Where is the list of demands from the protesting people?

This Time It's For Real
(20 comments) People are pissed. When interviewed for the mainstream news they give relatively mild answers to why they are there. Out of the camera view, there is real anger toward the 1% that controls everything. George Carlin said it best when he proclaimed that "The country is run by one big club "And you ain't in it!"

Let Them Worry About Us
There are very few Democratic lawmakers that don't belong to the much touted 1%. Just ask Senator Frank Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank about their "good deal" Countrywide cut-rate mortgages after they worked on those banking regulations.

Worse Than the Cold War or Vietnam -- America Today
(1 comments) We are living George Orwell's 1984. The mujahedin are Oceania or Eurasia. It's all a lie. These are wars for resources. Don't kid yourself anymore. We are in deep sh*t. This is worse than the Cold War or Vietnam.

America is a Dictatorship and I Can't Stop It
(2 comments) This isn't a president this is a dictator. In fact, the whole country is fed up with both Congress, the executive branch, and the judiciary. That is our entire federal government as laid out by our Constitution.

Labor Day, GM and Libya
I can't help but to weigh in on the situation in Libya. While Gaddafi wasn't a perfect ruler, he did more for his country than most rulers do for theirs.

A Government Out of Control
(3 comments) You would think that by now we'd have a little better understanding of what's happening in the world now and what happened in the past. When I mention this to people, they all tell me the same thing"people know what's happening but they don't think there's anything they can do about it.

Manufacturing Opinion, Today's Mainstream Media
There is a silver lining in this however; many people have become journalists out of necessity and a desire that people know the truth. For many, what started out as a way to register their discontent in the way that news has been presented to Americans, many Americans have found themselves becoming full-time reporters.

First We Take Manhattan, Then We Take Berlin
While the leaders in Washington fight, for things that they know are not exactly right.from the Congressional floor. When the country is split and we fight amongst ourselves and the corporations turn their backs on this fundamental hell, we all sit and wonder where the next threat will come, while we support a war in Libya by providing all the guns.

The Riots in Britain Could Foreshadow What Happens in the U.S.
(19 comments) There must be some underlying reason why people feel that they need to go out on the streets and break things and to steal from shopkeepers, or was this week just a moment where all the "criminals" decided to act out all at once?

Revolution is A Legitimate Option
(8 comments) Unless this government is willing to come to terms and look for other ways out of this financial crisis such as stopping these wars of aggression and holding corporations to the same standard it holds its citizens insofar as taxation, I believe that the government is not looking out for the welfare of the people. We have a right to act accordingly.

Taking Us for Fools
(10 comments) Will we be forced into a revolution to stop the spiral of debt that they put us under, or will the corporate-controlled politicians see the handwriting on the wall and do the people's will before we revolt? It is only a matter of time.

Responsibility, Accountability and "The Slippery Slope"
(1 comments) The world has changed greatly in a very short amount of time. The political landscape has become dangerous. It appears that the people who speak up are usually the ones that end up on the receiving end of a scandal and/or legal charges. If trends continue, speaking out could become dangerous. We already have a government that can assassinate any American citizen at will.

Foreign Aid and the Economic Crisis
In order to clarify exactly what foreign aid is, and isn't, we should no longer call it foreign aid or other descriptive phrases such as "humanitarian assistance" or any other noble-sounding tags.

An Open Letter to the Tea Party from a Concerned Liberal
The banks lent money for housing to people that either had no qualifying credit history or didn't meet the income requirements for the property that they purchased. They lent money on 110% (or more) of the properties worth. They sold adjustable mortgages that would balloon later on during the term of the mortgage. They revoked the Glass-Segal Act that prohibited speculation like this.

Cunningham Deported! With Stephen Lendman
Freelance journalist Finian Cunningham was ordered out of Bahrain on 18 June by the authorities as a result of his critical journalism covering the popular uprising and the subsequent, ongoing brutal repression of the peaceful pro-democracy movement. He had been living in Bahrain for three years, and was there at the outset of the recent uprising on 14 February.

"Regime Change" Right Here in America
Here in the United States the rhetoric coming out of Washington is that the nation is basically broke and must cut entitlements and benefits along with social programs. This is the height of hypocrisy. The facts are that the United States is still the richest nation on the planet. We have almost triple the amount of GDP for China, with only a fourth of China's population.

Interview with Finian Cunningham: Bahrain and the U.S. Role
(1 comments) Mr. Cunningham has bravely offered us a glimpse into this nation and a personal accounting of what's tagging place. We read about Syria and Libya, but hardly anything about Bahrain. This is probably due to the vested interest we have because of our fleet. We discuss this in the interview and come to some very sobering conclusions about U.S. foreign policy.

Where America Is and What We Can Do About It
(1 comments) When exactly the Constitution became obsolete is still debatable, but the facts are clear, it is obsolete. It is now very clear that the President can now start a war, at any time, in any place of his choosing. Every day, we routinely kill people in Pakistan, Libya and now Yemen, without any input from Congress.

Monday, June 6, 2011
Bahrain and an Interview with Finian Cunningham
We are practically involved in a full-fledged war in Libya, supporting a movement that we know nothing of. Meanwhile we are carrying out military missions that are quite beyond the scope of what the UN approved (meanwhile Congress wasn't even consulted, and that is an impeachable offense).

I Am A Dissident
(3 comments) Let me be frank. I'm not saying for a moment that America was ever a "shining light of democracy" or a nation that was totally pure in deed and actions. Still, at one time, it was the world's best chance since ancient Athens to create something noble. This nation was once an experiment to build a nation that was "of the people, and for the people".

More Government Lies and Deception
So is it any wonder that so many people don't trust the government or the mainstream media? How many times have they lied to us? Remember the babies in Kuwait getting thrown out of incubators, the Jessica Lynch story that was staged, to the reports that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. How about the reports that Gadhafi was bombing his own people without any proof?

Questions We Should Be Asking
(2 comments) To all of you self-described "liberals", don't expect to hear the truth about what's happening on MSNBC. It should have dawned on you a long time ago that they aren't the voice of the left or even the liberal wing of the Democrats; they are the attack vehicle for the DNC.

Enough About Cutting Entitlements-Cut the Military Budget!
(3 comments) We have a situation where we spend more on our military than all the other nations on Earth combined. We are doing it today, and what are our fearless leaders talking about in Congress? How to reduce the average Americans entitlements!

Hold Both Parties Responsible for Bankrupting the USA
(1 comments) The foremost of these facts is that we can no longer permit the Federal government to spent 53% of our taxable revenue for military spending, Homeland Security, and the many intelligence agencies that in a large part duplicate each other's work. 53 cents out of every taxable dollar goes to these endeavors. This takes away from fixing our crumbling infrastructure, educating our young people and paying off our debt.

Revolt Against American Militarism
(3 comments) Once again we see the President of the United States go back on his campaign rhetoric. The man has a hard time with the truth, and thus the reputation of the United States is further sullied.

A Good Look at the Countries America Loves to Hate
(4 comments) So where is the justification in starting a no-fly zone over Libya? Hasn't the U.S. learned its lesson in interfering in other nation's internal affairs? Just who made Obama the king of the world? Why doesn't he try to emulate some of the achievements that these three countries I just wrote about have managed to achieve?

Western Journalists Fail to Report the Facts about Libya Objectively
(11 comments) How often are we going to allow the American military to act as the world's policemen? In the long run, we stand to gain nothing from interfering in the politics of Libya. This will only turn out to be another in a long list of military attacks on sovereign nations.

Another Corporate-Inspired War?
(1 comments) Of course America will use humanitarian reasons for intervening in Libya. Undoubtedly, the killing of dissidents will be the overt reason for military intervention. American citizens will find reasons to bear the cost of military operations and the loss of life from military operations against Col. Kaddafi.

The People of Wisconsin Need to Trust Their Governor and the Federal Government
(4 comments) For some unexplainable reason, many people on the planet absolutely hate us. I'm sure that it is all a mistake. Once people from other nations get to know us, they usually end up loving us, even asking America to build military bases on their soil to protect their citizens the way we protect our own. In fact we have 724 military bases in other nations:

Is This the Beginning of The Second American Revolution?
(1 comments) There are movements in other States in support of Wisconsin. Union members that aren't even members of the public sector are supporting the demands of the public employees in Madison. There is a good reason for this. After the public sector's right for collective bargaining is trashed, the Republican's will be coming after the trade unions.

The Reason We are Becoming a Second Rate Nation
(1 comments) We need, more than any other legislation, honest campaign finance reform. The money that has entered politics has brought heinous results. The Republicans and many Democrats are working hand in glove with the people that keep them in power

America is a Military State
(1 comments) This country lives in an aura of fear. The government is constantly raising the threat level, telling us that a "terrorist" attack is imminent. This is hogwash. They have no more idea what the terrorists are planning than you or I. That is if there are any so-called "terrorists" left.

Americans Are Being Lied To
(2 comments) Corporate personhood is a myth. The corporations are responsible to no one except their corporate boards and shareholders and their bottom line is profit, not the security of the United States. Go to Wikipedia and look up the definition of corporate personhood. You will see that our government has been perpetrating one of the largest lies in history.

America is No Example of Democracy
(1 comments) The truth is that the average citizen in the U.S. has no more power over our Federal government than the average Egyptian demonstrating in Cairo. We are currently involved in a war in Afghanistan that is opposed by 60% of the population according to the latest poll

Prisons for Profit
Our prison system needs reform. This is almost impossible because so many are profiting from it. The prison guards and officials, the companies that run privatized prisons and the stockholders of these companies. In 2007, according to the National Association of State Budgeting Officers, states spent $44 billion in tax dollars on corrections.

Cut Social Security at your Peril
(1 comments) Cut Social Security and lose the next election. That goes for the Republicans too.

Are You Proud of your Country? I'm Not!
(9 comments) This article has been torturing me for the last five years. I know I should have written it a long time ago, but either the World situation wasn't right, or I was was daunted by the thought of writing this narrative that I knew would bea task that I didn't really want to start. I take the blame for not writing this sooner, but we are all human and beset by inadequacy.

How to Defeat American Fascism
(5 comments) Everyday people like you and I need to remember this. When issues like extending the Bush tax cuts or a debate on corporate tax cuts comes along, we need to remember just who it is that the politicians need to payback Mussolini once remarked that fascism could be called "corporatism".

"Breaking News!": America Blindsided Again!

Unity in 2011
(1 comments) The only good thing that came out of 2010 was that most of the people who still believed in this fractured two-party system finally understood just how corrupt and deceitful the system is.

American Hegemony: The Final Outcome
(2 comments) Our government should be concerned with the people it governs. We should protect our nation. That doesn't mean that we have the right to invade our citizen's personal freedoms and to subject our citizen's to unwarranted searches and seizures because of their political or religious beliefs.

America's Changing Society
(5 comments) People like Lieberman and Hillary Clinton have climbed so far down the rabbit hole that they no longer have a grasp on reality. These are people that believe their own propaganda. They have been serving out this Kool-Aid for so long that they have begun to sample it themselves.

Wikileaks: The Movie
(5 comments) The whole world is watching this drama unfold. The further we delve into this story, the more unbelievable it gets. Frankly, if this were a movie script, I doubt it would ever see the light of day. If I were a producer, I'd need the writers to tighten this script up.

North Korea: A Bastard State
(21 comments) Sometimes a preemptive war is justified. In the case of North Korea, I can't think of anything that would more justify a premptive strike. They are not going to listen to reason. Reason is not their strong suit. If Obama wants to be a war President, let him ponder the options of dealing with North Korea.

"Winning" a Nuclear War
(1 comments) Our government has been talking about "limited nuclear war" for so long now that I believe that they have fallen for their own rhetoric. Who will guarantee that "just enough" nukes will rain down on Iran and win this "all-important war" that could sacrifice the human race?

A New American Revolution
(3 comments) The only thing they have not taken into consideration is the backlash of the people that have been excised from the American dream. Where will they find substance for their families? What will happen to the anger that will grow when people no longer have meaningful work to do?

See 'Ya Later
(16 comments) The truth is that we are waging a World War for conquest of the world's resources. It's a sad fact, but it's true. The Democratic Congress could have denied funding for all our wars but didn't. Have you ever wondered why?

Election Day Blues
I sat and watched MSNBC and watched them make their assessments about why the Democrats lost so badly. Well the fact that the President didn't do anything but reward his campaign contributors with a massive deficit causing bail-out while turning its back on the manufacturing sector wasn't a real vote-getter

What We Face in the United States
(12 comments) When I looked into the propaganda that was going on, I noticed that there were also many Democrats jumping in line with Bush and Cheney. I saw very few people that showed any sense of rationality.

Why Should I Vote?
(32 comments) not hours. This fact alone can spell disaster for the status quo. The most important part of bringing real change to Washington is organization. It matters very little who controls Congress for the next two years. The product of the corporate political parties will be the same: more wars and an increased military budget.

Bob Dylan's Concert Last Night. OMG!
(6 comments) If you were to look at the reviews of his concerts at the various ticket outlets, you may have noticed that the reviews weren't exactly "stunning", and if by going with these reviews you decided that maybe it wasn't worth the price of admission, well, I feel sorry for you. I have only this to say about the concert: OMG!

What is Our Alternative to the Corporate Controlled Political Parties?
(12 comments) One must understand that most of the candidates presented, whether Republican or Democrats, are foisted upon us by their corporate benefactors. The everyday people have no real representation on the Federal level. This is a situation that must change, and change soon.

Democracy is Coming...to the USA
(8 comments) Americans are starting to understand just where their government places their priorities. In 2008, the largest transfer of wealth in recorded history took place right in front of our eyes. Over 14 Trillion dollars went to the oligarchs of Wall Street in the form of taxpayer money. Did that transfer of wealth actually help American families? Not by a long shot, but last year, bonuses on Wall Street were up by 18%.

To The Rank and File
(6 comments) Is the Democratic Party the party of the working man? Maybe it once was, but that was a long time ago, for the last few decades, they have been the party of the corporations.

We Need an Alternative to the Democrats and the GOP
(19 comments) I've been thinking of late about how to break free of the influence of that the corporations have on American politics. I believe that one must understand the complexities that plague this issue. Corporations have picked up First Amendment rights and are considered "people" by the courts.

The "One Nation Rally". Time to up the Ante
(1 comments) The one thing my experience tells me is that large gatherings like this only get larger with time. In the late "60's we were overwhelmed by the seemingly unreachable goal of ending the draft and getting out of Vietnam. It wasn't until the early seventies when each progressive gathering at the Capitol got larger and larger did the people and their government realize that Vietnam was a no-win situation.

Obama, Wake Up!
(1 comments) If I woke up one morning and found that I was the President, after I accepted that fact, maybe if I believed I was dreaming and just decided to go along with this particular dream, these are some of the things I would do.

The Truth and Its Consequences
(7 comments) The stateless multi-national corporations consistently depict happy scenes of American families to stimulate our endorphins and lead us to believe that all is well and we are prosperous and happy. To do otherwise might cause us to stop spending on cheap imports. They work to insure that consumer confidence remains high.

Monday, September 6, 2010
The "Good" Germans of the 21st Century
(13 comments) I think of all the munitions we used in Iraq. I am disgusted at our use of "depleted" uranium in our ordinance that poisons the air and ground and the water tables and has a half-life of over 400,000 years. Mothers and Fathers in Iraq don't ask if it's a boy or a girl.

A Fist in the System October 02, 2010
(2 comments) We have been led for the last few decades by the scum of the Earth. They have sold out the American worker with their "Free Trade Agreements". They have outsourced our livelihoods. They have made us into a "service economy" whatever that hype is supposed to mean.

Washington Sycophants
(1 comments) The facts are clear for every American not just for people on the left. The issue is whether we want corporate sycophants that obey every whim of their corporate donors or whether we want our Congressmen and Senators to represent their constituents.

Bye Bye American Pie
(10 comments) The problem with capitalism is that it works fine when the economy is expanding, but when it is shrinking" not so good. This is but one facet of the argument between capitalism and socialism.

American Propaganda
(4 comments) We exist under an oligarchy and have existed under it from the time of our nation's inception. The Constitution was designed not for the common man, but for those that had the wealth to exercise power.

Friday, August 13, 2010
There is no "Professional Left" on Cable
(2 comments) Maybe it's because there is no "Professional Left" on cable. This bickering between cable outlets is designed to keep the American people separated and entwined in "straw man" issues while the real problems of the militarization of the United States goes on and we stay embroiled in a kind of economic class war.

We Hold These Truths...
(4 comments) What I can't understand is how we as a nation have come to see such a disparity in the division between upper-class and the middle-class. The Republicans and many Democrats forget that the preamble to the Constitution above says that we should promote the general welfare

Excuse The American Left Mr. Gibbs
(12 comments) The publisher of a large website told me that after the election that "We were going to hold his feet to the fire". I'm doing just that. Why are we in Afghanistan? Are we there to "help" the people of that country? When have we ever invaded another country to "help" them? How much have we "helped" the Iraqi people?

Are We Crazy?
(3 comments) War seems to be this country's greatest export. The only export that we sell above all other nations is in arms, we are the world's largest purveyors of instruments of death. We spend over half of our discretionary spending on our military.

Mr. Obama, Why We are not that Impressed
(4 comments) The one question that I'd rather see answered above all other questions that I could conceivably ask is "Why haven't you held the Bush/Cheney Administration responsible for all of the crimes that were perpetrated under their watch?"

American Designs in Latin America
(4 comments) Since the end of World War II, the United States has been involved in overthrowing a government in every nation in Latin America, some more than once. There has been more than one career spent in American clandestine organizations participating in regime changes from start to finish.

Will the U.S. Annex Latin America?
(2 comments) We all know what this "War on Drugs" in Latin America really is. It is a way for America to achieve full-spectrum dominance in an area that has seen nations like Venezuela and Bolivia and the other nations of ALBA trying to escape domination by the United States and its corporate rulers. If we can't win in an area by economic warfare, the military option is never far behind.

Too Weird to Make Up, The "Cheonan" Sinking
(5 comments) Have we gotten to the point where we have so effectively muzzled the mainstream press that they have become more selective in their reporting of anything that might cast doubt on the official government "spin" on things than agencies of the government?

Our Military Turns on its Own
It looks as if the men and women serving or who have served, often with back to back combat tours away from their families, ducking IED's and bullets, will bear the cost of an out of control military budget.

Why Afghanistan?
(11 comments) It's been reported that the Taliban gave al Qaeda a free hand to operate in this poor, backwards country which led to the September 11th attacks on the United States in 2001, and that this is the primary reason that the United States and NATO operate on the premise that if we don't develop a strong central government in Kabul, that more attacks will surely hit the United states "Homeland" after being planned in Afghanistan.
