With all the talk lately about "woulda, shoulda, coulda", it's time to again remind our members of Congress that they have ALSO failed in the oversight of our runaway dictator under the guise of president.
Yet again this week, in signing the new Homeland Security spending bill, Bush felt obliged to attach a signing statement with what has now become a stock disclaimer reserving the right to interpret it "in a manner consistent with the president's Constitutional authority to supervise the unitary executive branch." THERE IS NO SUCH AUTHORITY!!!
The administration's own legal counsel now admits that these signing statements are INTENDED as an illegal line item veto, a stealth and profoundly unconstitutional seizure of power, an utterly blatant disregard of the authority of Congress to make law. And yet the president is not still confronted by the Congress he so belittles.
To confront the president. THAT is the first thing that must happen. And that is why it is so important that we get as much exposure for the new Lie/Die TV spots of the Peace Team, calling the Bush administration out on their Iraq lies. First we must confront. And only then will the rest of our friends and neighbors see for themselves just how far Bush has gone to abuse the power intended by the founders.
By getting as many of the Lie/Die spots on the air as possible, and now 12 members of the Peace Team have already produced their own versions, we can get the word out that there ARE candidates with courage, who WILL stand up to the Bush administration. Only by standing up now and not backing down can we win the votes of those who also are troubled by the Bush lies, but who need to see our strength before trusting us with the necessary corrective power.
This alert is brought to you by the activism of Stacey Tallitsch, running for Congress from the 1st district of Louisiana. Stacey has shared his production of the new Lie/Die spot with other candidates, directly calling the Bush administration on their Iraq lies.
Please go to donations page now. You can see the spots playing right on the page above. Give whatever you can in these last critical 4 weeks of this Congressional election campaign. The future of our democracy is on the line. This is our last chance to take back our country from the dark side of dictatorial ambition. We must give it everything we've got. Only then do we have a chance for a brighter tomorrow.

The last time you nearly impeached a president it took ages and resulted in nothing. And the next guy was 10x as evil. So what would impeaching Bush help knowing all that?
NOTHING!

So we all look alike to you,huh?...The impeachment of William Jefferson Clinton was a political tactic based upon a personal indiscretion and was carried out by a minority of this nations elected politicos for reasons that had little or nothing to do with America's choices and decisions.
Whereas the talk of impeaching this current abomination in the WH has everything to do with morals and ethics, supporting the rights of everyone around the world and giving due respect to the Constitution of these United States. I trust I have cleared this nuance up for you......
I must add that Ive little to do with such talk as I find it a distraction and an impossibility unless and until the composition of both Houses changes dramatically.....

The Clinton lynching was an effort to sabotage the president. it was over a pecadillo. This president deserves to be impeached, along with his despicable vp. But the time for talking about it is after the November elections. The first step will be congressional investigations-- the sooner the better.

Come, be realistic. Wouldn't the world be a better place if you just impaled the whole gang first and re-jigged the political system so that such a disaster could never happen ever again?
Right.
Then do it. Action, not words.

is not limited to the president and will permanently remove this cabal. Impeachment is the Legislature's only true Constitutional check on the Judicial and Executive power.
Unfortunately today, impeachment is largely misunderstood. The best way to educate people on the impeachment process is to draw the parallel between a Grand Jury proceeding and Impeachment. Gaskells Political Dictionary defines impeachment thus:
Impeachment- Any officer who abuses his authority, is liable to impeachment. The lower house acts as grand jury, the upper, as petit jury. The great political excitement incident to reconstruction culminated in the impeachment of Andrew Johnson in 1868. Articles of impeachment were agreed upon March 3, and presented to the Senate two days later. The trial began March 23, Chief-Justice Chase presiding. The specific charge was the removal of the Secretary of War, Stanton, in violation of the tenure of office act. After a long and exciting trial, he was acquitted, a few Republican Senators voting with the Democrats for acquittal.
Many of the individuals who are complicit with war crimes were also guilty and involved in Iran-Contra. Hypothetically, if these guilty individuals were impeached back then, they would not be in power in the government today. Hence, these individuals would not be the problem they are today.
We must learn from the past. If we again fail to impeach these individuals, we only invite history to repeat itself again.

What would be more valuable is to get a criminal federal indictment for negligent homicide for Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and others. Put them on trial for killing thousands of service people in Iraq. A public trial for top federal elected and appointed officials is just what this country needs; akin to the WWII Nourenberg trials of Nazi criminals. An impeachment of Bush is too narrow, too political. We must show the world that we can punish criminal public officials.

But, did Nancy Pelosi not say that impeachment would not be on the table?? She lost me on that one. I don't understand how we can continue letting the congress keep giving up our civil rights to the likes of the cabal in power. These people do NOT realize that they'll be living under these same conditions, especially those repubs who'll get their walking papers in another month. Once they're losers bushco will have no use for them. They will be just like the rest of us disenfranchised Americans.
