Headlined on 3/10/08:
Spitzer Hires A Hooker, MSM Goes Ballistic

by Rob Kall     Page 1 of 1 page(s)

http://www.opednews.com

Tell A Friend

Today, Elliot Spitzer got himself busted. Apparently, the FBI ran phone taps that proved he hired a hooker in DC.

Right wing legislators who already hated his guts are sanctimoniously calling for his resignation. The mainstream media are saying he was tied to a prostitution ring. It looks to me like he was a customer. That's all.

Last week, we got the news that one out of 100 Americans are in jail. Part of the reason for this is the fact that we have a bunch of laws on the books that punish people for victimless crimes. Prostitution and the use of a prostitute's services are examples, as are the use of "illegal" Drugs.

There is certainly hypocrisy here, since Spitzer busted several prostitution rings when he was state Attorney General.

Then, we have David Vitter, the Louisiana legislator who was outed for having frequented prostitutes. He got a pass.

There's no excuse for Spitzer's behavior. He betrayed his wife and family and demonstrated hypocrisy. I feel sorry for Spitzer's wife and family. But this kind of victimless crime just does not justify resignationi, let alone imprisonment. It is not surprising that he is getting the scandal treatment. That's the way the media operate nowadays.

Already, the Clinton campaign has scrubbed him from their website.

The losers may be the Democrats in the state of New York, where the state house was close to being taken over, for the first time in decades, by Democrats. Maybe a New York Democrat with experience with lust causing political problems, a guy whose middle name is pecadillo, could help Spitzer. After all, Bill has an office in Harlem.

Of course, the media will be making a big deal about this for a few days, at least, since Spitzer apparently screwed a prostitute. That's a big deal for them much bigger than the job Dick Cheney did screwing America.

Then there's Wall Street, where Spitzer built his reputation as a guy who was tough on corporate abuses. The perpetrators he came down on are celebrating now.  You know, it wouldn't be the first time that a corrupt party used vice and the lure of sex to take one of the good guys down. Unfortunately, otherwise good people do succumb to seduction. Great men and women are rarely perfect.

Pathetic, isn't it?

Oh by the way. Any word whether the phone taps were court authorized? Were they started as part of the telecom program that a lot of sellout dems are willing to pardon the telecoms for? Just some thoughts.

Personally, as long as Spitzer didn't use government funds, I think he should keep his job. Actually, I think prostitution and a lot of now illegal drugs should be made legal. We have too many people in prison thanks to religious extremism.

Call Girls Fight in War Against Poverty

A top girl [rated at 7 Diamonds] at the Emperor's Club commands $31,000 per dawn to dawn stint. Spitzer's lady received $4,300 for her sex work [2.5 hours].

Legalization of prostitution would lower bribes to Police, politicians and judges. Prosecution of telecom executives would put rich white people in prison [gasp].

In my opinion all legislators should sit in jail until they draft laws that define punishments in line with the crimes committed.

The Phone Taps an Blackmail

I wonder if this is part of that same sexual blackmail ring that Sibel Edmonds ran across that was featured in that great series in the London Times since nobody here in the pocket media will touch it.

I am beginning to draw the conclusion that nobody gets to high office in this sad rotting empire unless they are blackmailable.

 Just my two cents

Not a Victimless Crime

Sex with a prostitute is not a victimless crime.

Spitzer's family is the victim in this case.

Much pain and suffering will caused by his actions.

In Christian circles and other religions his actions are called "adultery".

Elliot Spitzer is a most gifted fellow. For him to be taken down for a sexual affair, with prostitutes, if he was using his own money, is ludicrous. His accusers ought to read John 4:1-42.

Prostitution ought to be legalized in all 50 states as should polygamy (as a choice). If it were, the "headache" would disappear from the American book of evasive measures in a hurry.

Neither God Almighty, His prophets, nor Jesus had anything to do with eliminating polygamy and in John 4:1-42, Jesus opens the window on mitigating circumstances which are not elaborated upon as he discusses a woman's sexual endeavors with five husbands and the man who is not her husband with whom she lived at that moment. Never does he tell HER, "Go and sin no more," nor does he criticize her romances. Polygamy fell out in Eurasia because of cost, not because it was immoral. Almost all of the prophets were polygamists.

To deprive America of such a man, as Spitzer over sexual dalliances is criminal, who cares who he is diddling, it is a personal matter not worthy of discussion or criminal prosecution of its service people. It is a farce and an Obstruction of health and happiness for many men and women whose lives otherwise would be miserable.

Legalize Prostitution; illegalize Drug Companies Advertising on TV that is a crime worthy of prosecution.

Mitigation is the key.

Jesus on Adultery

Adultery

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;' but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.

Hey Bob

write at least one article. 707 high-horse comments is a bit much to swallow. The Catholic Church has been nearly disbanded over child-abuse by priests, evangelical after evangelical has been found in the wrong bed and I have yet to see an eye plucked or a hand cut off (would it be the mastubatory hand?)

Lighten up and write something useful.

I suspect

that this goes somewhere much deeper than we have been told and we should hold our fire until all the facts are out.  Initially it appeared that Governor Spitzer was discovered in an FBI wiretap investigation of the prostitution ring.  In that case, he may be only collateral damage, which does not necessarily excuse his behavior but this is the tip of a very large iceberg.

Quite so

The feds started spying on Spitzer's financial transactions and say that that is how they were led to the prostitution ring. Can anyone spell "targeted by a corrupt Justice Department?"

Not Sure

But i think i heard that ES arranged for the transportation of the prostitute across state lines, making the crime a felony with a max of 20 years in prison.

He will step down, my udnerstanding is he is negotiating a plea deal, where I am sure resigning is mandatory.

I understand that this is upsetting but remember it is ES who ran on an ethics platform. When we see the GOP fall for hypocrisy we are so self righteous but when it is one of our own, we suddenly start questioning what should be law or not. I like ES but he brought this on himself and it is probably best for my state that he go away as quietly as possible.

The only issue for me is if the wiretaps were legal, and if there was a concerted effort to "get him" but even those questions do not change the lawbreaking. Oh, and the slanted media coverage of course.

Peace.

What Spitzer did is between him, his wife and his family. We have no business here.

The political and corporate profiteers, our prison system and the morality wingnuts who love the 'evils' of illegal (again for profit) drugs and prostitution hate it when common sense is used and their ability to make a buck on someone else's PERSONAL life and its PERSONAL LESSONS is threatened.

Whatever anyone believes as it regards Jesus, the bible and its meanings is ok with me. It too is personal.

     Politics. Makes me laugh.

The problem

The law still is the law and as wrong as you may think a law may be, it does not give you the right to break it willfully. THAT is the issue.

It is also a tad hypocritical to cry foul about the laws, after someone you like has broken them. If this had been Arnold, we would be roasting him and you know it.

Hypocrisy is hypocrisy.

The law is the law...

and when you combine that with a career well spent using that law to piss off the mighty, you had better keep your nose clean, mind your p's and q's, eat your vegetables, stay off of my clean floor and definitely watch your six. When those precepts are ignored, one does not make history, one simply becomes history.

Sidetracking ? Distraction ? Smear Campaign ?

Remember that Clinton's impeachment had nothing to do with sex, it was political :he refused to invade Iraq. He had to be smeared somehow. Sex scandal is the most convenient as all of them have some hidden affaire going on at any time. Now, something is happening to poor Spitzer; and MSM's deafening propaganda noise is supposed to divert our attention from behind-the-scenes schemings and intrigings. Here are some clues : he knows tooo much about 9/11 and can not be relied upon to stay idle, he has too many enemies among NY mobsters, he does have some traces of honesty and integrity at the bottom of his soul and this is a great liability for a politician, he is a potential democratic ambitious. Now put all these elements and ingredients together and you end up with a volatile mixture ready to blow up. Also consider  the timing : Iraq is going bad, Cheney is heading for Mid-East for fishy business, oil keeps soaring.  It is urgent to keep the sheeple distracted. Right on, MSM.

As we slip into a depression, the third world war is about to be started  in Poland, or Serbia,or Gaza. Infragard members have a license to kill if we have a national emergency. Food prices are going to triple. Election fraud is rampant. Our troops are coming home to be homeless or commit suicide. Generals and cabinet members are jumping ship and the crazies want to bomb Iran and the sheeple are being fed juicy sex scandal.

It is a good thing we have the web and alternate sources of news or we might not get any.

They just laugh at us in Europe for our moral stances

The lead piece on Nova TV (Prague, Czech Republic) tonight was George Bush's veto of the congressional bill that required the CIA to abide by military interrogation rules. They are drop-jawed at a president who says 'we do not torture' and then vetoes a bill that requires him to live up to that.

Oh, and Spitzer made the news as well. They just smile at us as if we were children.
