Is Osama bin Laden Dead? Part 1: December is for Dying

Tell A Friend

We just saw Osama bin Laden pop up around the 6th annual commemorative days of 9/11 to pour new salt into our collective American wounds, to let us know that he is alive and kicking and ready to continue the Jihad, ready to terrorize us again, as Homeland Security officials keep reminding us. And it is only "a matter of time" before the next attack occurs.

If this didn't pump new life into the somewhat stale, creaky and extremely expensive War on Terror, nothing will. Nothing like a new jolt of fear and a fresh paroxysm of anger to energize support for the defenders of Western Civilization, which has, as long as I can recall, having been raised in the 1950s, been continuously under threat from some vast evil or other that is just on the verge of exterminating us. It used to be Russia and the International Communist Conspiracy, and now it is the dark and foreboding Grand Vizier of Radical Islam, Osama bin Laden, apparently possessed of almost uncanny powers to avoid detection and apprehension for a full six years now.

Speaking of Aladdin-like powers, his two recent videos show he has rather amazingly recovered his youthful appearance, even sporting the black beard of a much younger man, which has led experts to speculate that he has either dyed his beard or adorned a false one. (Why he would cut the old one off is a rather curious question. Would it be that the gaunt, six foot four Saudi Arab with the long arms might feel that he would no longer be recognizable in a crowd?)  Despite this beard incongruity, experts on the Mass Media Rolodexes assured us that yes, this was indeed bin Laden, and, ipso facto, al Qaeda is still a menace to all of humanity.

There is only one problem with this melodramatic scenario that sells so many newspapers and TV ads for the stations milking this to the nth degree. Osama bin Laden may be long dead.

I am going to start investigating this question in earnest in this new series, carefully, a little bit at a time. But don't all these expert-endorsed bin Laden videos and audios make me seem like a fool to even suggest this? Maybe, maybe not, in this high tech world where film producers can create hobbits, 3-D dinosaurs and vast armies of warriors, demons, aliens, raptors or anything else they want in virtual reality, where I, for instance, using just Microsoft Paint, can take a photograph and completely alter it into something else that still looks at least halfway believable to the untrained eye. In effect, technology can now make fantasy and illusion seem more real than ever. Anyway, here we go with the first glaring contradiction about bin Laden's continued existence:

bin Laden's Funeral, December 2001

See this strange looking work of Islamic art:

A notice in an Egyptian newspaper

(Reference: click here)

This is, in reality, a photo copy of a funeral article in the Egyptian newspaper al-Wafd,  dated Wednesday, December 26, 2001, Volume 15, No. 4633. Here is the translation:

News of Bin Laden's Death and Funeral 10 days ago

Islamabad

A prominent official in the Afghan Taleban movement announced yesterday the death of Osama bin Laden, the chief of al-Qa'da organization, stating that bin Laden suffered serious complications in the lungs and died a natural and quiet death. The official, who asked to remain anonymous, stated to The Observer of Pakistan that he had himself attended the funeral of bin Laden and saw his face prior to burial in Tora Bora 10 days ago. He mentioned that 30 of al-Qa'da fighters attended the burial as well as members of his family and some friends from the Taleban. In the farewell ceremony to his final rest guns were fired in the air. The official stated that it is difficult to pinpoint the burial location of bin Laden because according to the Wahhabi tradition no mark is left by the grave. He stressed that it is unlikely that the American forces would ever uncover any traces of bin Laden. (Reference: click here)

As if that doesn't bode well for bin Laden's immortality, the headline of this CNN article, followed by an excerpt, is another nail in his coffin, a purported will that bin Laden wrote in 2001, dated just before his alleged death above:

Magazine runs what it calls bin Laden's will

Saturday, October 26, 2002

LONDON, England (CNN) --The editor-in-chief of a London-based Arab news magazine said a purported will it published Saturday was written late last year by Osama bin Laden, and shows "he's dying or he's going to die soon."

Dead or Alive, does it really matter?

Do you really believe that bin Laden matters much? He was, I concede, a focal point for half wits and rednecks hatreds, and a symbol of a war for those who love to hate.

Osama bin Laden, dead or alive, was merely a convenience to the neocons, who had been working towards a permanent American military presence in the Middle East for decades. AlQaeda will endure the death of one of its financiers, as it has many such whose wealth exceeds the gross national product of several nations. The USA has diligently and purposively fomented class and religious warfare in that region of the world to its own purpose and whether one figure, however central, lives or dies is not relevant.

Deflating the Archetype

What is driving masses of American people to continue to swallow the War on Terror is the stranglehold of this archetype of evil on their their psyches, just as the Nazis nourished the Jew as the archetype of evil. If we can deflate this archetype, Americans will begin to free their minds more and more. Right now America is lurching from bogey man to bogey man irrationally, emotionally with no engagement of the critical faculties. Every revelation of truth is a step in the right direction.

I could be Osama.

It is funny. My mother in law asked me with concerned look on her face if I had seen the latest Osama bin Laden tape when it came out.  I assured her, "With enough makeup the guys from Hollywood could make me look like Osama bin Laden. The government is just trying to scare you. I used to put out false information like this for your government when I was in the military."
