The White Rose and the Rose Parade

Tell A Friend

Since the conquest of Poland three hundred thousand Jews have been murdered in this country in the most bestial way ... The German people slumber on in their dull, stupid sleep and encourage these fascist criminals ... Each man wants to be exonerated of a guilt of this kind, each one continues on his way with the most placid, the calmest conscience. But he cannot be exonerated; he is guilty, guilty, guilty! — From the second leaflet of the White Rose. [5] ”

My first encounter with the White Rose Society (a small group of Munich University Students who were executed for their opposition to Hitler and the Third Reich) came on my way from Dallas to Crawford, Tx on August 6th, 2005.

I rode from the Veteran’s for Peace Convention in Dallas on the “White Rose,” a bus that had a huge ‘IMPEACH’ written on the side of it. On the bus was a picture of Sophie Scholl and her brother Hans and some of the quotes of the series of 5 leaflets that the Society spread denouncing Hitler from June 1942 to February 1943, when they were caught and executed. They were an obviously brave and moral group of wide awake Germans who sacrificed their lives to try and change the horrible direction that their nation was going in.

Gold Star Families for Peace and the Camp Casey Peace Institute has joined a group called the "White Rose Coalition" that will be carrying a large copy of the Constitution at the end of the parade and the Backbone Campaign’s Chain Gang will be following the parade. Many activists will tag along with our “Impeachment” banners, signs and other means of protest to call national attention to the accountability issue.

Being involved in this particular action has engendered the most hate mail for me since I left the Democratic Party! I am “ruining the parade.” I am the “representation of everything that is evil in the world today.” One woman named Carrie, was “sorry” that my son is dead, but he volunteered to “honor” this country with his service and even though Carrie is no “fan” of Bush (yeah sure), I have really “crossed the line” this time.

First of all, we are not protesting the parade at all, except that it is a symbol of corporate excess and it is my opinion it is not really moral to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on parade floats when people are still being killed in Iraq and suicide rates for our Veterans are skyrocketing because the VA system in under-funded and apparently not a priority for BushCo and Congress Inc

I can’t remember a time in my life where anyone protesting at a parade would have upset me at all, but since Casey was killed in Iraq and since I have faced and witnessed so much violence, oppression and hardship in the world, it is absolutely stunning to me that this protest would create so much vileness and venom. There are so many more important things in the world besides parades and football games. I have also tried to imagine an Iraqi happening to catch a glimpse of the Rose Parade on TV somehow and marveling how everything is so happy and beautiful in America when our nation has utterly devastated and destroyed theirs.

Since the “conquest” of Iraq, over one million Iraqis have been slaughtered or have died from the tragic, but unavoidable consequences of invasion and occupation. BushCo have desecrated our Constitution and the almost complete fascist take-over of our media and the blatant stealing of our freedoms here at home have bypassed many Americans while they are slumbering in our dull, stupid sleep.

As long as people like Carrie have their “circuses” to divert them, then they don’t have to bother their “beautiful minds” with the crimes of BushCo---but ignorance is not an excuse for being awash in the blood of nearly 4000 Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.

I spend every second of every day mourning my son and longing for his future. I am sorry if someone wearing an “Impeach Bush and Cheney” t-shirt will ruin a parade for somebody, but we are trying to prevent many more people from having their entire lives ruined.

We cannot allow this criminal regime to continue as in the words of the first leaflet from the White Rose Society:

It is certain that today every honest German is ashamed of his government. Who among us has any conception of the dimensions of shame that will befall us and our children when one day the veil has fallen from our eyes and the most horrible of crimes ... reach the light of day.

Cindy Sheehan is the mother of Spc. Casey Austin Sheehan, who was KIA in Iraq on 04/04/04. She is a co-founder and President of Gold Star Families for Peace and the author of two books: Not One More Mother's Child and Dear President Bush.

Dear Mrs Sheehan:

As you recalled the White Rose Society, and remembered taht you first heard of them on your way to a protest in Crawford, did not one very stark fact enter your thoughts?  The White Rose Society members were executed, were killed by the German government, for their protests, yet you were able to proceed, without any reasonable fear that you'd be executed, to take the same actions they did.

In your years of fame, you have protested at the private home of our president, hob-nobbed with a would-be dictator in Hugo Chavez, proclaiming that you'd ratehr live under President Chavez than President Bush, written uncounted articles, marched in dozens of protest marches, and filed to run against the Speaker of teh House.

And what punishments have you incurred?  Well, you had a kerfuffle with the Lost Kos, but that's about it.  You can write freely, you can publish your complaints about President Bush, you can run for office, and you can do about anything you want, with absolutely no (reasonable) fear that you will suffer the fate as the members of the White Rose Society.

In the meantime, the president you despise so much is entering his last full year in office.  On January 20, 2009, he will leave office peacefully and legally, without ever having imposed martial law, without having a rubber-stamp legislature enabling him to rule by decree, and without ever having tried to change the constitution so that he could stay in office beyond January 20, 2009.

You really ought to think about that.

I don't think you got the point Dana.

1 million Iraqi people dead for no reason whatsoever.

So Bush leaves office legally, big f'in deal. Can you tell me one good thing

Bush has done?

As Cindy said, the American people are asleep.... willfully or ignorantly.

They dull their senses with useless parades. What are we celebrating anyway?

I am a retired opera singer. I was a leading soprano with the New York City Opera for ten years. I am a strong supporter of Dennis Kucinich and worked for his campaign in 2004. I believe that he is the ONLY honest man in congress. He has been working against this insane war since before it began. I am 72 years old and I have been so frustrated with the media, the Congress and the American people that they don't tell the truth.

You confuse the issue.

Don't be confused by this issue. There is no peace in this country. Millions of innocent Iraqis have been killed or displaced by this evil occcupation of their country. If you think that Cindy Sheehan has not suffered, look again. She LOST HER SON TO AN EVIL WAR!!!! Can any of us imagine what that does to a mother?

It's time for us all to wake up and see the situation as it really is. Bush and Cheney lied us into a corrupt and evil war. You say that Bush will leave office next year. We have no guarantee of that. He is manipulating events again with Iran. Iran is no threat to us. This cabal is capable of anything.

If we don't  impeach them we send an evil message to this country and the rest of the world that it's okay to lie and kill and steal and manipulate the truth and shred the Constitution. What do we leave for our childrem and grandchildren? Do we want to let them think that we don't care about the truth and that we don't care about people all over the world?

As far as despising this president, if you don't despise this president and vice president and the rest of their mob, there's something very, very wrong with you. Look to your self and answer this question. Is it okay with you to let all of this crime and corruption stand for this country?I hope not.

There but not here!

There are many guises in fascism. The fascism going on here is not in the form of goosestepping or in the murderous tactics of the Gestapo. At least not yet. But the corporatism(a term Mussolini coined for his own fascism) we live under today in the US is very real. Anyone who has ever heard of the 14 points of Fascism, a study which shows the basic similar traits in every fascist state, would know in fact that Cindy Sheehan is right. For those who are unfamiliar with them, here they are. I would also point out that every similarity shared by fascist states has been uncannily supported by the Bush administration, including a national police force(DHLS) that controls every other law enforcement agency in the nation.  That means your local police too.

14 POINTS OF FASCISM

1. Powerful and continuing expressions of nationalism

From the prominent displays of flags and bunting to the ubiquitous lapel pins, the fervor to show patriotic nationalism, both on the part of the regime itself and of citizens caught up in its frenzy, was always obvious. Catchy slogans, pride in the military, and demands for unity were common themes in expressing this nationalism. It was usually coupled with a suspicion of things foreign that often bordered on xenophobia.

2. Disdain for the importance of human rights

The regimes themselves viewed human rights as of little value and a hindrance to realizing the objectives of the ruling elite. Through clever use of propaganda, the population was brought to accept these human rights abuses by marginalizing, even demonizing, those being targeted. When abuse was egregious, the tactic was to use secrecy, denial, and disinformation.

3. Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause

The most significant common thread among these regimes was the use of scapegoating as a means to divert the people’s attention from other problems, to shift blame for failures, and to channel frustration in controlled directions. The methods of choice—relentless propaganda and disinformation—were usually effective. Often the regimes would incite “spontaneous” acts against the target scapegoats, usually communists, socialists, liberals, Jews, ethnic and racial minorities, traditional national enemies, members of other religions, secularists, homosexuals, and “terrorists.” Active opponents of these regimes were inevitably labeled as terrorists and dealt with accordingly.

4. The supremacy of the military/avid militarism

Ruling elites always identified closely with the military and the industrial infrastructure that supported it. A disproportionate share of national resources was allocated to the military, even when domestic needs were acute. The military was seen as an expression of nationalism, and was used whenever possible to assert national goals, intimidate other nations, and increase the power and prestige of the ruling elite.

5. Rampant sexism

Beyond the simple fact that the political elite and the national culture were male-dominated, these regimes inevitably viewed women as second-class citizens. They were adamantly anti-abortion and also homophobic. These attitudes were usually codified in Draconian laws that enjoyed strong support by the orthodox religion of the country, thus lending the regime cover for its abuses.

6. A controlled mass media

Under some of the regimes, the mass media were under strict direct control and could be relied upon never to stray from the party line. Other regimes exercised more subtle power to ensure media orthodoxy. Methods included the control of licensing and access to resources, economic pressure, appeals to patriotism, and implied threats. The leaders of the mass media were often politically compatible with the power elite. The result was usually success in keeping the general public unaware of the regimes’ excesses.

7. Obsession with national security

Inevitably, a national security apparatus was under direct control of the ruling elite. It was usually an instrument of oppression, operating in secret and beyond any constraints. Its actions were justified under the rubric of protecting “national security,” and questioning its activities was portrayed as unpatriotic or even treasonous.

8. Religion and ruling elite tied together

Unlike communist regimes, the fascist and protofascist regimes were never proclaimed as godless by their opponents. In fact, most of the regimes attached themselves to the predominant religion of the country and chose to portray themselves as militant defenders of that religion. The fact that the ruling elite’s behavior was incompatible with the precepts of the religion was generally swept under the rug. Propaganda kept up the illusion that the ruling elites were defenders of the faith and opponents of the “godless.” A perception was manufactured that opposing the power elite was tantamount to an attack on religion.

9. Power of corporations protected

Although the personal life of ordinary citizens was under strict control, the ability of large corporations to operate in relative freedom was not compromised. The ruling elite saw the corporate structure as a way to not only ensure military production (in developed states), but also as an additional means of social control. Members of the economic elite were often pampered by the political elite to ensure a continued mutuality of interests, especially in the repression of “have-not” citizens.

10. Power of labor suppressed or eliminated

Since organized labor was seen as the one power center that could challenge the political hegemony of the ruling elite and its corporate allies, it was inevitably crushed or made powerless. The poor formed an underclass, viewed with suspicion or outright contempt. Under some regimes, being poor was considered akin to a vice.

11. Disdain and suppression of intellectuals and the arts

Intellectuals and the inherent freedom of ideas and expression associated with them were anathema to these regimes. Intellectual and academic freedom were considered subversive to national security and the patriotic ideal. Universities were tightly controlled; politically unreliable faculty harassed or eliminated. Unorthodox ideas or expressions of dissent were strongly attacked, silenced, or crushed. To these regimes, art and literature should serve the national interest or they had no right to exist.

12. Obsession with crime and punishment

Most of these regimes maintained Draconian systems of criminal justice with huge prison populations. The police were often glorified and had almost unchecked power, leading to rampant abuse. “Normal” and political crime were often merged into trumped-up criminal charges and sometimes used against political opponents of the regime. Fear, and hatred, of criminals or “traitors” was often promoted among the population as an excuse for more police power.

13. Rampant cronyism and corruption

Those in business circles and close to the power elite often used their position to enrich themselves. This corruption worked both ways; the power elite would receive financial gifts and property from the economic elite, who in turn would gain the benefit of government favoritism. Members of the power elite were in a position to obtain vast wealth from other sources as well: for example, by stealing national resources. With the national security apparatus under control and the media muzzled, this corruption was largely unconstrained and not well understood by the general population.

14. Fraudulent elections

Elections in the form of plebiscites or public opinion polls were usually bogus. When actual elections with candidates were held, they would usually be perverted by the power elite to get the desired result. Common methods included maintaining control of the election machinery, intimidating and disenfranchising opposition voters, destroying or disallowing legal votes, and, as a last resort, turning to a judiciary beholden to the power elite.

NOTE: The above 14 Points was written in 2004 by Dr. Laurence Britt, a political scientist. Dr. Britt studied the fascist regimes of: Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile).

What punishments?

Dana - who the hell do you think you are? You don't think Cindy Sheehan hasn't suffered indignities at the hands of non-thinking fools such as yourself? Do you think losing a loved one for no reason other than to enrich power-mad cretins isn't punishment? You don't think we have secret police and government agencies and agents whose job it is to make those that would expose the truth lives hell? Mabye to you death threats, intimidation and harassment aren't punishment? You think we live in a shinning example of democracy, instead of a controlled imperialistic nation? You think your vote counts? You think justice is being done? Are you so entrenched in whatever ivory-white gated community as to be so blind to the crimes your own government commits so you can drive your SUV to the mall and but cheap junk and food off the backs of exploited peoples around the world?

Sheehan and the rest didn't go far enough! You think any major network will cover the end of the parade? It's way past time that major civil disobedience happen where we disrupt not just silly ass parades but commerce and government.

But, don't worry about a thing Dana, go stick your head in the sand, the adults will take care of the heavy lifting and when it's safe for you to come out and join us we'll let you know. In the mean time go join the cowards, but do us a favor and don't denigrate those that have the real courage to face the fascists that you can't see. (Maybe because you're one of them?)

bush and constitution

George W. Bush has most certainly subverted the Constitution in many ways and he did attempt to cancel the 2004 and 2006 elections on the basis that the country was in a state of emergency over the terrorist attacks. The good people of this country (yourself obviously not included in that group since you support a would-be dictator) prevented him from proceeding with his diabolical plan.

We don't know yet that he won't pull something like that before the upcoming election which will surely put him out of office. He participated in an unConstitutional court case and election corruption orchestrated by his brother in Florida in order to get into the White House; we'll see what these people have up their sleeve when the time comes to leave.

Glad you have a crystal ball Dana!

Jan 2009 is a long way off and still a lot of time left for BUSHCO to use the "tools" they have given themselves. These have been put in place for a reason. Oh, I forgot they are to protect us...

One only has to look at what is happening in Pakistan now to get a possible "preview of coming attractions" in 2008 for the US.

The White Rose and The Rose Parade

Dana

Shame on you.  Cindy Sheehan suffered the ultimate; she had to bury her son.  And many other mothers had to bury their sons and daughters.  Over a million Iraqi mothers had to do the same.  And what was the reason?  Did the American soldiers or the Iraqi people do something wrong?  If it was tell me what that something was.

The criminality in all this stems from Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, and the other warmongers who wanted to start a war with Iraq to steal the oil and make money supplying the war machine.  How many of them died?

Cindy Sheehan had a companion mother early on.  She was a friend of mine.  Dr. Barbara Porcia.  Her son Jonathon Cheatham was the first Arkansas soldier to die in Iraq.  I knew him also.  He was an outstanding young man.  Unfortunately he died to enrich the Bush Bunch, as did all the others that have died

If you disagree tell me why Bush invaded.  Please don’t try to push that crap on me about WMD, Imminent threat, or any of the other PR used by the Bush Bunch to get this war going.  Give me a real threat from Iraq.

Dana, for your information:

  1. Retired General Wesley Clark reported a 1991 discussion with Wolfowitz about starting a war with Iraq.  Why?  According to Alan Greenspan to get the Oil.  Also Dennis Kucinich reported this in a speech on the house floor.  I wrote about the Clark conversation and also the Kucinich speech.  Kucinich was reading from the Draft of the Oil deal in Iraq where 83% of all Iraq’s oil was going to be taken by U S and other Foreign International Oil Companies.  The value of this Oil at today’s price of $100 per barrel is $30Trillion.

  1. Speaking of money, the ACCRUED national debt has increased under Bush to $53 Trillion since he took Office; it was $20 Trillion when he came in. In other words the debt has increased $33 Trillion.  That’s $436,000 for every family of four.  Add on the original $20 Trillion and the 4-person family now owes $700,000.  Somebody pocketed that money.  Wasn’t me.  Was it you or maybe do you think it might have been Bush and the boys?

  1. Dana, we would be in Iran right now if the Iraqi war had gone better.  And what would have been the reason?  Dana, did you know that during  all the invasions that the U S has instigated since World War II (All undeclared), Iran has not invaded any country as long as America has existed.  Now just why do we need to invade them?  Surely it wouldn’t be for their oil.

Dana,  don’t be an enabler of the murder, theft, and fraud of this Administration.  Seems that with the exception of Ron Paul all the other Republican Candidates enable Bush.  Dana I think Ray Charles could see the Corrupt bunch we have in power now.  And to praise them, make excuses for them, where have you been the past seven years?

John Sanchez Jr.Midwesterner, veteran of VietNam era naval service, I still feel an obligation to defend the Constitution against "all enemies, foreign and domestic."

All true

The White Rose Society was almost immediately silenced through execution when they tried to point out to their fellow citizens what evil had befallen their nation. We, however, have the luxury of striking the tocsin before the would be regime has it in their power to start their pogroms.

If we wait for the country to be so far gone that the government can execute protesters, then we have clearly been derelict in our duty as citizens.

For my part, I swore an oath, thirty five years ago, upon entering the military service that I would defend the Constitution of the United States of America against "all enemies, foreign or domestic," and I consider myself to remain bound to honor that clause.

Note that the oath specifies the defense of the Constitution and nothing else. I did not swear to defend the People of the United States, nor its flag, nor its territory, and particularly not its government.

The Constitution is the United States of America, notwithstanding George W. Bush's claim that it is "nothing but a goddamned piece of paper." That statement alone is grounds for impeachment, as his oath of office is to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution of the United States.

The Power of Guerrilla words.

I learned of the White Rose society while reading a book on Germany during World War II. I recognized them as kindred spirits because I do the same thing with hand made signs on my car, a lot of cafe talk, and letters to the editor. Crook media will never carry people with smarts because words are more of a threat than a bazooka. I have signs that say, "Bush did 911 to steal." "Crook media covers everything with nothing" and "Crooks, suckers, and lazy cowards." Those are just a few. I have also parked my car by the roadside with signs that say much the same thing like "Torture is a Republican scream".  (I differ from the White Rose in never making moral appeals to conscience.  People are just never moral actors except at gunpoint.)

Cindy has once again spoken the truth

What I'd like to add is that like the Germans, the American people have been lied to (by omission) by their government, their religion and their educators, for over 60 years.  It had been said that it was 75 years for the Germans.

Only a handful of people recognized this and spoke up, then and now.  History rhymes once again, and unfortunately,  the stanzas repeat.  From the early days when Cindy first spoke up, she had already paid a horrible price for these lies, by losing her son.  I heard what she said, and built the web site to try to help the cause:

I love you Cindy, but unfortunately I have real issues with this phrasing in your op-ed,

"Many activists will tag along"

Tag along Cindy? Is that what we do? And here I thought we were all in the fight together...I thought those that came to your events were there SUPPORTING YOU and the cause, not there just to "tag along"...

We all need to be more mindful of our verbiage, including you Cindy because words like those divide and demean, not rally and unite.

Now, now...

Don't get too caught up in the verbage. Cindy said, "many" not "all". Many of the people in this country are for the prosperity of their own civil rights, but unaware of all the damages that truly affects them during this administration's stay in the White House (blame MSM). I'm sure if the MSM reported as they should be reporting, then your anger with the wording Cindy used would be warranted.

That's my 2 cents. With all respect.

I was born prior to WWII, grew up learning about what happened in Europe as well as the Pacific.  As an adult voted both for Republicans and Democrats hoping my vote would mean something -- sometimes it did and sometimes it didn't.  Unfortunately, I see we have not changed as a society in sixty years, even after the creation of the Atom Bomb and the use of it.   We swing back and forth -- we are not static as a society.  I support Cindy, join in her sorrow, once again we are sacrificing our youth to a war, now our young women are also included more and more.  Is the war valid, in my opinion, no.  But it is happening.  It is affecting more and more american homes and families. I don't consider myself an activist simply a witness with an opinion.  I support where and when I can.  I pray for those who are the gadflys and believe that prayer has power.  We are raising 3 grandchildren who 5,4 and 3, our resources are limited, we are retired.  So our contributions are minimal and consist of spiritual assistance rather than monetary.  I am not making excuses just explaining our situation.  We are traditionalists -- not christian, hebrew nor muslim; we pray to the same Power, just an older way to reach him/her/they.  Thank you.

change over 60 years

Our society has not changed in 150 years. That's why KKKarl talks about taking the U. S. back to the Gilded Age.

I have achieved nothing of consequence apart from raising children in a way that they would excel where I failed. And they are on good tracks.

Here Comes The Chopper To Chop Off Your Head: S1959

Welcome DANA PICO to the world of grown ups or rather the world of disillusionned disgusted citizens. We suppose you had been slumbering in front of the telescreen when all of a sudden you heard bangs on the door by nasty Sheehan and had to improvise some blather before falling back to coma in front of the propaganda machine. There is no doubt you are still living in the wonderful realm of the wonderful magician OZ, while we have already gone beyond the smokescreen and exposed the nasty wizard and his wrongdoings. We are going to keep you awake and you are going to listen  because you came here; and you will go back brains full, like it or not. Here we go. Your wonderful wizard of OZ came to office through fraud, first time court appointed , second time voting-machine appointed. Your unelectd hero launched the deadliest and most abominable attack on US citizens on 9/11/01 and scared you to hell on blaming his crime on some innocent muslims so as you would shut your eyes and your mind on whatever abominations he would commit later in the name of phony wars on phony terrorists: abolition of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, abolition of legislative and judiciary branches of the government and their replacement by 'Executive Orders' which literally means abolition of the laws of the land; restriction of freedom through a phony  'PATRIOT' act which has absolutely nothing patriot in it, invasion of 2 sovereign nations that posed no danger to the US's interests and the subsequent slaughter of millions for the sole purpose of stealilng natural resources; authorization of TORTURE as USA's brand of foreign policy. And now come the Thought Police through the  bushist laws HR1955 and S1959. Which means that they will do to real and honest patriots same thing that Hitler used to do to dissidnts in fascist era Germany  : physical elimination of anyone who would dare question his dictatorial wrongdoings. Let's remind you that bush is not gone yet and he has a World War III to carry through which he has already announced regardless of consequences or casualties. Now, you have to understand why every concerned citizen is panic stricken and in a rush mood  to do somethong before it is too late. Everyone with a minimum of common sense knows that the murderer is contemplating another 9/11 fearmogering scenario for his upcoming apocalyptic WWIII. That's why there is an urgent need to impeach and remove this mindless and heartless individual  as soon as possible before he manages to implement his devilish and hellish onslaght on innocents and on the planet Earth. Now, you may go back to your coma if you wish, knowing that you may be awakenned into a nightmarish reality if you refuse to join  the tribe of Peace seekers.

Thank You Cindy

For being one of the few Americans to speak publically what so many of us are thinking privately.  These days no protest, no matter how well thought, out will ever reach the public airwaves.  100,000 people could march down the street of any city and it won't be shown.  The major media is owned by large corporations who only show what is favorable to the power elite.  Those who are brave enough to protest have to take their opportunities wherever they can find them.  A lot of Americans are out there like ostriches...head in the sand, butt in the air.  Wake up people...your democracy is fading fast.

I am nobody important - except to me. And even then... sometimes I wonder... about that much too.
bejeezusI am nobody important - except to me. And even then... sometimes I wonder... about that much too.

We should all support a constitutionalist...

... In this upcoming election - regardless of Party affiliation - first, and foremost.

Yes, it's only a political campaign, I know. Because real change must always start from within...

... Or so we've all been lead to believe.

If we're not wont to promote love and freedom for everyone, what right do we have to promote it only for ourselves? Add in a couple of other principles of non-aggression... like the Hippocratic Oath and the Golden Rule... and the USA could be on-the-mend in a fortnight, wouldn't you guess?

None of us have to be expert medical doctors or religionists... or anything but human... to see what truth remains... for us, as individuals... then a nation... to unite in lasting peace.

Those candidates who take their oaths of office seriously should have a natural affinity for upholding the rule of law... and not of fallible men. Thus should they come together as American patriots, first... and partisan hacks merely seeking ancillary rewards not worth noting, second.

It's apparent to me... the corporate mainstream media has all but destroyed the candidacies of Kucinich and Gravel... so...

... That only leaves Dr. Paul - the last best hope for America we have left - to have a shot... at commanding the bully pulpit... in our hour of gravest need.

It's tough for progressives like me (like you, maybe?) to admit that a small "r" republican might really need our support in these dangerous times.

But are we so fooled by divisiveness... and the media's deception... that the parade participants' central message - as evidenced by their carrying of the US Constitution for all to see - will so easily go away... unnoticed... or unheeded?

Thank you Cindy, for honoring Casey... by defending his legacy of familial love and noble freedom... and that of the American people's Constitution... through all your courageous acts.

If it takes a brave fallen hero's mom to stand up for what the historic White Rose lesson... should still mean for us as Americans... then so be it.

I believe Casey must have very good reasons... to be smiling... right about now.
