"Desperate times call for drastic measures."
Unknown

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
Declaration of Independence

There are a thousand striking at the branches of evil, to one who is striking at the root.
Henry David Thoreau

How long is the "train of abuses and usurpations" that has been coupled together by the Bush regime with the consent, or active participation of Congress?

In the Declaration of Independence,  our fore-parents listed the train of abuses that King "George" III (the king of Great Britain at the time) perpetrated on the American colonies. The differences between our "Mad King George," and the one that reigned over these states, 232 years ago are slim.

If you "google" the Declaration, or pull one out of your pocket/purse and read it, you can see the abuses are practically identical. I am not going to list the abuses, because you can read them. The current one that is going to hit each and every American, though, whether unborn or one foot in the grave, is:

*For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent.

In a recent Rasmussen poll only 7% of Americans approved of a bail out of Wall Street...gee, I wonder which ones those were? The CEO's of Goldman-Sachs and their families? And former CEO of Goldman-Sachs: US Treasury Secretary: Henry (Hammerin' Hank) Paulson?

There is one major difference between Past Mad King George and Present Mad King George, though. Our fore-parents had the courage and integrity to say "enough is enough, George" and they kicked an occupying force in the ass and booted them off our continent. We Present Americans are so passive in the face of, and cowed into submission by, the current state of fascist affairs in our country.

Now the evil "powers that be" in an incestuous collusion are collaborating to steal 2300.00 per American to give to Wall Street to pay for worthless paper transactions that will make our paper dollar worth even less. Mad King George and his obedient Court Jesters (Congress) are asking us to pony up our hard earned money from our hard-worked labor to keep the Wall Street Barbary Coast Pirates in the style to which they have become accustomed. I would like to call "HORSESHIT" on that!

Before my son, Casey, was killed in Iraq, I was like these Americans. I dutifully obeyed stupid laws and paid my taxes like a good, properly propagandized American.

As I wrote the checks, I never considered what my money was financing. After Casey was killed, I became deeply ashamed that I had in some small part funded the very thing that killed him: greedy and rampant US imperialism. I have not paid my taxes since. I won't pay my taxes until our money is used for positive projects: health insurance, affordable housing, credits for green development, jobs programs to rebuild our compromised infrastructure, education, etc. I can hold my head up and say that I feel that I have taken a principled stand against this US Corporate Empire.

This out of control system needs to be overthrown and even though we still retain a modicum of the 2nd Amendment, we do not have the firepower it would take to militarily overthrow our Mad King George and his Jesters. More importantly, I fear armed revolutions for the very reason that they always install violent regimes, so I am proposing another solution: a tax revolt.

Over the past 7+ years, our taxes have gone to pay for: killing innocent people, torturing and detaining without due process other people (innocent or guilty is no matter), increasing Police State America, bailing out other finance companies, paying for private mercenary soldiers in New Orleans, Iraq and Afghanistan and the very ephemeral notion of a "War on Terror." Most of us have continued to pay for these crimes against humanity. Some haven't and some have done so with a nagging feeling in the back of the place that is called a "conscience."

It is time to with hold your support from this criminally insane institution of Government/Wall Street. DO NOT allow your money to be used to bail out the fat cats. I propose:

*If employed, change your withholding to M-9, (married with 9 dependents) so no taxes are withheld from your paycheck and do not file next April 15th.

*If possible, limit your income to so you do not have to file.

*Or this is the best scenario: file your taxes and deduct 2300.00 for each member of your family and request a refund from Uncle Sam. (and still change your withholding).

*Withhold a partial amount of your taxes to make a statement.

There are many ways that this government finances its schemes, but a massive tax revolt will send reverberations throughout the rotten system.

Before Congress approves this Crime of the Century bail out, call your House Representative and Senators (toll free: 1-877-851-6437) and tell them that if they collude with the Bush Regime to do this, you won't be paying your 2008 income taxes.

Tax protest is a time honored and very courageous form of protest (ie: Boston Tea Party, Henry David Thoreau, Gandhi). I am not calling for a "protest" though...we have had many of those, I am calling for you to have the courage and integrity to join me in nothing less than a Revolution. It won't be easy, but neither will the resultant collapse of our economic system if this "trickle down" plan goes through. I am tired of being trickled on...it is time for action, not complaints or whining.

This is the only way we can stand up to power in this country and if we stand together, they cannot divide and conquer us. Let's reverse the trend and have thousands "striking at the root."

Necessary, but not sufficient.

Taxes are imposed by Congress because the Constitution gave Congress the right to impose taxes. Congress does it by the authority invested in them by the American people who vote.

I know you're running for Congress against Nancy Pelosi, Cindy.

I wrote this some time back about you and Congress:

The Fable of Lanova Messiah

As long as we continue to vote to delegate our power to Congress, they will continue to have our authority to keep screwing us.

Consensual Political Intercourse

Putting one or two good apples into a barrel of rotten ones isn't going to change anything, Cindy.

You don't want people to pay taxes to the government that they voted to authorize and legitimize -- the government to which, by voting, they gave the consent of the governed?

Congress is a bureaucracy, Cindy. The best you could hope for after 24 years in Congress would be to end up as powerless as John Conyers.

For some reason, even though they killed your son Casey in an illegal war based on lies, you still have faith in the system -- enough faith to want to become a part of it. Our government is a crime syndicate. If you're really opposed to crime, you don't join the Mafia.

From what I've read, you're ahead by 90%. If you tell your supporters not to vote, Pelosi will win with only 10% of the electorate participating and everyone will know that she and the Congress of which she is a part are not legitimate and do not have the consent of the governed.

That's how the Apartheid regime in South Africa was discredited. An election boycott is the only proven effective way to discredit an illegitimate government. If very few people vote, a government cannot claim the consent of the governed.

We love you, Cindy. America loves and respects you. You have the power right now to organize an effective election boycott. Many people will keep paying taxes because they're afraid of going to jail, but there is no penalty for refusing to vote. It doesn't take courage, it just takes the ability to recognize that our government is totally corrupt, and the strength of character to stop delegating our power to a totally corrupt government.

By the way, Cindy, did you know that according to the Constitution, Congress, not the voters, is the sole judge of the elections, returns, and qualifications of Members of Congress? So if you get 90% of the vote and Pelosi only gets 10% of the vote, and the central tabulators just happen to have a glitch that flips the results, Congress can swear in Pelosi and once the fact that the results are fraudulent are exposed, Congress can refuse to look at the evidence, as it did with Clint Curtis, and keep Pelosi in office anyway? They're the sole judge of the elections. Not even the courts have jurisdiction. And only Congress can remove a sitting member of Congress. That's from the Constitution, Article 1, Section 5.

The Constitution never gave us any power over government. Even the right to vote is granted by the States, not by the Constitution. All we can do is give our consent, by voting, or withdraw our consent, by not voting.

I advocate that we withdraw our consent.

Reply: Pelosi needs to be challenged; Cindy's doing the right thing

Yes, you're right, the "system" is hopelessly corrupt...the "government" is nothing but a crime syndicate, and ideally, nobody should be voting at all. Realistically speaking, however, most people in the U.S. still do not see it this way and perhaps never will.

That said, the contest between Cindy and the evil stooge Pelosi is important in the same way that emergency medicine is important to a heart attack victim. Yes, we know he's in bad shape; he's near death as a result of a long-standing unhealthy life-style...he needs proper diet, exercise, etc., but here he is on the table in the ER, and we might as well try to save his life.

As I see it, the Sheehan-Pelosi battle is in essence a contest between the "Israel Lobby", which is destroying us, and a growing group of grass-roots American patriots. If the hideously evil AIPAC puppet Pelosi can be brought down, that may send an important message to the other stooges in Congress.

Of course it may by now be too late for anything, but given the lack of other practical measures at this late date, I don't think anyone can fault her for trying.

How Naive

Cindy,

Do you really believe that those crooked bastards give a damn about your tax money? You are running for Congress and you should know better. They just do not need your tax money. The gangsters in power had figured that out long time ago when they assembled secretly in Jekyll Island in 1913. When they are short in cash they just print it as much as they wish, truck loads of it and much more through their money printing apparatus called the Federal Reserve. As long as oil transactions worldwide are carried out in US dollars, they are free to print ad infinitum without limits. Don't you ever believe that tax money is their soft vulnerable spot. They are much smarter than that.

The only way to confront the thieves and psychopaths in power is a genuine revolution. That's all

God Bless You

So we all should break the law?

Do I understand that you are running for Congress? You are running for office and you are telling people to file falsely or not pay at all? Interesting campaign you are running. Fore-parents? If you teach school and the Gettysburg Address do you change the text to satisfy your ego? I guess politics can always use a new stand up.

Reply: Why obey unjust laws?

When I read your comment I couldn't help but recall Thomas Jefferson's words:

"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual."

He was the President, remember? So why shouldn't Cindy advocate civil disobedience?

One last thought about taxes:

"Government: If you refuse to pay unjust taxes, your property will be confiscated. If you attempt to defend your property, you will be arrested. If you resist arrest, you will be clubbed. If you defend yourself against clubbing, you will be shot dead. These procedures are known as the Rule of Law."

Taxes are nothing but theft.  We shouldn't have to pay them. That said, libertarians & constitutionalists have been at this for a while now many are in prison. If you're  going to go down this road do know what you're getting into.

On taxes and bank runs

I worked in a tax office. You don't need to say 9 dependents or anything like that. It is your choice whether to pay withholding or not. The overt idea is that you don't owe a large sum at tax time. Covertly, they get your money sooner. Important: IT IS YOUR CHOICE TO HAVE WITHHOLDING. If you don't want to pay income taxes, then tell your HR dep't. NO WITHHOLDING. NONE. It's your choice, not theirs. And then don't file. That is the most probable legal solution. She's right. If enough people do it, it crashes the system.

Speaking of: At this point, the system will only f*ck us more and more, every day. Bank runs are bad for the system. Get your money out. Bring the system down before it brings you down. A bank panic is a system-wide veto by the people. It may be the only solution, as ugly as it sounds.

Sure, we might lose money, but I'd give it all away to just to say 'I am a free man. This system does not own me.'
