giulianikerik.jpgBernard Kerik, former Giuliani's driver , is behind the sudden advancement of tasers. The phenominal rise of tasers is mainly due to the efforts of Rudy Giuliani. In 2001, Taser International developed its "Advanced Taser Electro-Muscular Disruption" system and became a publicly traded company ("Taser"). In 2000, Giuliani installed Kerik as the New York City police commissioner. In 2002, Kerik, a senior vice president at Giuliani Partners and CEO of Giuliani-Kerik LLC, became Taser's director.

With Kerik at the steering wheel, Taser's profits grew ten times in two years, to $68 million in 2004, up from just under $7 million in 2001. By the way, sales have been helped along by police officers who have received payments and/or stock options from Taser to serve as instructors and trainers.

bushkeric.jpgIn 2003, Taser received weapons orders from Homeland Security. In 2004 Bush, lobbied by Giuliani, nominated Kerik as Secretary of Homeland Security. The same year, Kerik made more than $6 million from Taser.

Just five years earlier, Kerik faced lawsuits over delinquent payments for his condo. The life of this high school dropout changed after he became Giuliani's chauffeur. Giuliani made him rich, powerful, and, as a result, well-educated. After Kerik got a mail-order Bachelor's Degree from Empire State College in 2002, he went on to receive Honorary Doctorates from Iona College, New York Institute of Technology, Manhattanville College, the College of New Rochelle, and Michigan State University. In 2002, according to keriklegaltrust.com, "Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Second, also honored him with an honorary appointment as Commander of the Most Excellent Royal Order of the British Empire."

In 2004, the Commander of the Most Excellent Royal Order withdrew as nominee for secretary of homeland security and resigned from Giuliani Partners "to clear his good name. " "He continues to be a friend,'' said Giuliani of the Commander and immediately renamed Giuliani-Kerik LLC to Giuliani Security & Safety LLC.

Earlier this month, Kerik was indicted on federal criminal charges.

A U.N. committee called the use of tasers "a form of torture." Amnesty International estimated in hundreds taser related deaths.

Giuliani: "Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do."

Ok, we get it. It's all because of the war on terror. Just where is it all going?

Next we will see flying taser saucers zapping us from the sky. Don't believe it? This weapon has already been built by Taser and tested in Houston. Then there is the crowd control taser. The Air Force secretary Wynne called for using it against US citizens first, before we try it on terrorists, because that "... would make it easier to avoid questions in the international community over any possible safety concerns."

Yesterday's poll showed Rudy Taser Giuliani as the best candidate to address terrorism. Just don't tase us, bro!

Jiuliani is consistent in his assault on liberties

According to Wikipedia:

One of Giuliani Partners' clients during this time included an admitted drug smuggler and millionaire founder of companies that perform electronic information gathering (datamining) on individuals, Hank Asher, who ... hired Giuliani for his "influence with the federal government to enable Mr. Asher to take an active role in Seisint as a chief executive officer despite the allegations about his drug dealing." Giuliani helped Asher's company get $12 million in government grants.

Giuliani is also consistent on using unsavory characters. And on making us to pay for stripping our liberties away.

This "War on terror" turns out to be quite a good business for some people.

Giuliani is a thug

and a rich thug at that. Of all the candidates, I fear "Rudy Rule" more than any other. The guy give me the creeps. He represents a heavy handed ruler type personality, not the even handed wise guidance the U.S. needs.

Tasering the Pregnant Now?

Well, then, I guess thanks to Guiliani, this pregnant woman was tasered!

Reply: in the interest of sanity

The woman was acting rather eccentric, wearing a heavy winter coat hiding her pregnancy and lets not lose our sense of reason here. Throwing charges about, willy nilly, only makes us all look foolish and, by association, that for which we stand.

Ardee,

Why should we agree with the concept that police is allowed to use lethal weapon on whim? They suspected she carried a weapon, or she was not cooperative, so zap? Yes, she refused to get out of the car, it was a problem, agreed. Deal with this problem.

Are we becoming a country where if police officer says something we are not allowed to argue? Regardless of what he said? Or he can shoot or taser us if we don't follow his orders immediately?

I think the use of deadly weapon is justified only if there is a direct life threat. Objectively. Not if the cop "thought" there was a threat. If he made a wrong decision about a threat, he should be punished. Because of his mistake, that pregnant woman should be allowed to taser him and his children.

Reply: At least get the facts

before passing judgment:

TROTWOOD, Ohio (AP) - A policeman forced a pregnant woman to the ground and used a stun gun on her when she refused to answer the officer's questions and resisted being handcuffed, authorities said Thursday.

The woman went to the police department in this Dayton suburb on Nov. 18 to ask officers to take custody of her 1-year-old son, said Michael Etter, Trotwood's public safety director.

The woman told the officer she was "tired of playing games" with the baby's father, Etter said. The woman refused to answer questions, became frustrated and tried to leave with the child, Etter said. The officer feared allowing her to leave could jeopardize the child and he decided to detain her to get more information.

He said the officer grabbed the woman, got the child away from her and forced her to the ground. When she resisted being handcuffed and tried to get away, the officer used the stun gun on her, Etter said.

The woman wore a winter coat and did not tell the officer she was pregnant, Etter said. "She was totally uncooperative," he said.

The woman was arrested for obstruction and resisting arrest and transported to jail, Etter said. When she arrived at the jail, it was discovered that she was pregnant, and an officer took her to the hospital, he said. The condition of the woman and the fetus was not known.

So she wasnt in a car, was trying to give away her kid, refused an officers instructions when a child was involved. My original point is that we must be damned certain of our facts before we spout off a position, otherwise we llook as foolish as you do in commenting about that which you hadnt all the facts.

Another thing that appears foolish is a condemnation of the Tazer and then suggesting that the cop and his child be tazered....are these winning political positions or do they add fuel to the right wings characterisation of the left as a bunch of loons?

Reply: Policeman deserved a bullet.

Acting eccentric is neither a crime nor a reasonable basis to conclude that she was going to harm anyone.  The cop claimed that he believed that she might hurt the child if she left with him.  If that were true why didn't he simply accept the child.  Just get her to sign a piece of paper saying that she did so voluntarily.  She'll leave her finger prints on paper which will probably get her identity and then CPS will take care of it.  Or not.  The cop lost his reason when he tasered her for not answering questions as is her right.  He was never in any danger and committed an assault.  Nobody is throwing around charges willy-nilly except the police.  Everyone has the right to resist an illegal arrest so she committed no crime.  Anyone shooting the cop to prevent this tasering would have been legally and morally justified.

Recent Taser Deaths

On November 18th we had three separate US deaths after taser use, all on the same day and all delayed. Canada experienced 3 taser deaths in one month starting with the Polish immigrant at the BC airport. His death was during the tasing, the other two were delayed. It was reported (but not confirmed) that the Pole had a massive heart attack.

The company discounts any delayed death as unrelated because there is no medical data to support a delayed death from a shock. In fact they say there is no relationship if a person dies during a shock. It has been reported that the company sues coroners that attribute deaths to taser use.

What is note worthy about the Canadian deaths is that they seldom use tasers so the frequency of deaths is not insignificant.

There have been injuries reported to the company that occurred during controlled use during training. A former worker alleged that the company shredded those reports. Those reports might indicate a mode of action, even if not fatal, perhaps indicating muscle or nerve damage.

My position is that because there is no public medical data that can be used to link delayed death to taser use doesn't mean it can't happen. There was a time when the origins of diseases were mysteries. We still are groping with Mad Cow disease and the significance of prions. There possibly can be heart muscle or cell disruption damage that could pre-dispose a person to arrhythmias or a heart attack. There is no Government interest in studying this phenomenon.

Criminals and fascist thugs

Just one more symptom of the takeover of the USA by homegrown Nazis.  Giuliani is their poster boy and they will make sure he wins the election.

If Giuliani Wins the Election...

If Giuliani Wins the Election, I'd say it's time for most of us to pack our bags and relocate to another country. One thug was enough, but this guy takes the cake, and he's so rotten it smells!

When thugs and liars like Giuiani are actually considered to be "Presidential Material", we know that our country has finally hit the bottom of the barrel, and I doubt we could go lower than that.

TASER INTERNATIONAL/more grounds for IMPEACHMENT

Trying to stick to the taser issue bit at first -

Although Amnesty has called for a ban/moratorium on them since 1985, as weapons of torture.

Taser INternational is trying to "spin" them not as WEAPONs, but as a kindler, gentler way.  Yeah, right.

SEE THIS URL, put out by someone in PETA

www.tasergunvide.com, which exposes who these WEAPONS are tested in US Air force facilities via some professor at the University of Wisconsin.

Antweapons selling groups in the UK have been all over this issue/ so has NZ.

All this is documented on my blog, run searches on tasers, tasars, Taser International.

We must act to have these weapons banned on an international basis, as Canada refuses to ban them, thinking that they can get away with it. Various provinces currently have a ban on them, even previous to the death of Robert Dziekanski in Vancouver.

I have subjected myself to viewing many many of the videos that have come out, and posted ONLY the good ones on my blog and I try to keep current (good) information posted on this regularly.

The effects such as eplipsy and other brain disfunction is not expected to show up for about 12 years after the torture .. and TASER INTERNATIONAL is banking on that.  Literally.

Whenever anybody post about them it would be nice to always put WEAPONS in caps, this defeats the "spin" of Taser International, which trains those who speak about them to never use that word. They have spent a small fortune on PR ...

I think the fact that tasers have NOT been investigated by the DoJ, after the  Amnesty Intl. ruling is yet another reason to pursue IMPEACHMENT.  Mukasey's son is involved with Rudy, as I've documented here on OpEd News.   This is another reason why Mukasey was lieing his ass off about TORTURE, as it is his job to ensure the government follows the law.

Mukasey is already set up to be a war criminal, same as CONGRESS which has voted funds to continue the war, when it knows the use of Torture is contrary to the ICC and The Hague. Help us document that objections are being raised.

I am building an  IMPEACHMENT toolkit over at my blog working with the Daily  KOS, Crooks and Liars,  Marc Parent and afterdowningstreet.  Please drop and get informed

We CAN stop the coming war with IRAN and we can also get these weapons of  tortured banned.
