Limbaugh Watch: Palin Pregnancy Talking Points

by Dean Powers     Page 1 of 2 page(s)

Tell A Friend

After introducing their credentials as gay rights activists in the wake of the Mark Foley sex scandal last election cycle, conservatives are waving the banner of feminism like it's on fire.

Rush Limbaugh took to the airwaves Tuesday after a long hiatus and jumped right into the most exciting subject of debate since the primaries ended: Gov. Sarah Palin and her pregnant, un-married teenage daughter.

Limbaugh hammered away on a handful of themes: 1. The Left's ridicule of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her family will backfire. 2: Gov. Palin's daughter, Bristol, made a classic "average American" mistake, endearing her to born-again Christians. 3: Gov. Palin is energizing heartland Middle Americans and "values voters." 4. Leftists are sexists.

In his "monologue," Limbaugh led the conservative charge to play politics with the Bible. Limbaugh praised 17-year-old Bristol for keeping her baby and then, despite boasting 3 divorces and a pain-killer addiction, drew a moral contrast with Democratic Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama saying, "Obama supports the killing of babies."

Pure libelous slander. Obama supports a woman's right to terminate an unwanted fetus...slightly different than supporting the "killing of babies." Supporting the "killing of babies" is what conservatives like Rush Limbaugh did to instigate the Iraq War. They've cheered it every day. The bombing of Baghdad and our subsequent occupation KILLED (yes, the same word as seen and heard in the phrase, "baby killers!") 655,000 civilians, including many living, breathing babies.

But the contradiction and hypocrisy only begins here. Pre-marital sex is taboo in the Christian culture. In fact it's as serious as, gasp, homosexuality. No kidding!

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:9) Bristol, bless her minor heart, is hell-bound for the sin of fornication, in case you didn't identify her particular offense.

Isn't it fascinating that getting drunk is just as sinful as homosexuality? Use it wherever possible. Memorize this quote, ye gays.

But I digress. So Bristol Palin has sinned her way out of the inheritance of the kingdom of God. You'll remember that the Right Wing savages homosexuals for their behavior.

Here's the late televangelist, Jerry Falwell, on homosexuals: "These perverted homosexuals...absolutely hate everything that you and I and most decent God-fearing people stand for...Make no mistake. These deviants seek nothing less than total control and influence in society, politics, our schools, and in our exercise of free speech and religion. If we do not act now, homosexuals will control America!"

Just sub in the word: fornicators or drunkards and, as we learned in 1 Corinthians 6:9, there would be no difference.

So Christians put sinners in this light when the sinners are Liberals. Here's how Rush Limbaugh treats a high-powered Republican's daughter who has fornicated and, by inference, seeks to "control America:" "We all make mistakes," Rush says, like he's explaining away GITMO all over again. "All human beings fail to live up to perfection..."

So Liberal sinners are the irredeemable devil, but when the daughter of the Republican candidate for VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA commits a sin tantamount to the same sin of homosexuality as seen in Evangelical hate-speech its the cutest thing in the world; an American family overcoming their struggles.

Washington DC power and influence might buy pardons and exonerations in court rooms here on this earth, but even Evangelicals must admit that these earthly considerations cannot corrupt the judgment of God.

But here's Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Miss.) trying to change God's standards again.

"I think to most Americans, [Bristol Palin's pre-marital fornication] is another welcome to everybody's kitchen table. Everybody has challenges that are challenges to their family, but I think moms and dads who have to deal with questions like this, who have to figure out how to pay their bills, who have to figure out how to make a small business work [huh? how did he slip this in there?], I think that is something that the American people understand and they appreciate." What, running a small business? What are we talking about here?

Playin pregnancy

Though I do not personally believe in abortion except in life/death situations and for real rape, it is rediculous for the Repubs to claim it is their concern for someone's new developing life.  They had no problem invading two countries based on conspiracy and lies that resulted in the murder of many hundreds of innocent people, including uncounted pregnant women.  And, many of the new babies that will be born will be born with deformities due to the nuclear fallout of some of the bombs used especially in the early invasions.  The anti-abortion platform of the Republican leadership is so much bull.  King George and his family are in fact pro-abortion, and most all concerned therein have at various times confirmed that conviction.  Ask Grandma Barbara.  And, ask Georgie boy who paid for his pregnant girlfriends abortion back in 1972.  They all claim publically to support the pro-life movement but it is just another lie.

Like most, I do not know Palin, but, if she is to be dictating my affairs to me and for me when old man McShameful Songbird passes, it is important that I know both the good and bad of her personal affairs because it will effect her decissions that will affect my life.  Limbaugh hardly belongs anywhere as a favorable guide.

The repubs pick and choose their "sins". If THEY commit one of the atrocities of sin, well, they are forgiven and washed with the blood of the lamb. However, if a Gay person or a woman of Liberal thinking does one of these same things, oh my god, get the switch out, they need a beating. I am so sick of these righteous wind bags that are so 2 faced and have such double standards. They "Play god" and rate evil on THEIR scale. Well listen up Xians, I just came back from Hell, and everyhting is much more serene there than you can imagine. See, ya'll got up confused with down.

I'll tell ya, they are pushing me to vote for Obama, just pushing. Btw, the ppl I know that have had abortions, are mainly upper income proclaimed Christians and even a Bible thumper one as well. Even the stats show most women claim they are of Christian faith in survey after survey that have abortions.

PS. I went to hell just to see what Dick Cheney does down there. They hate him THERE as well. Go figure.

Values

In my wifes multi-confessional country many civil and some criminal matters are resolved in church courts perhaps that is where we will end up.

A problem with some who hold strongly held religeous views is that on ascending to positions of authority they often seek to impose their values on the community at large a community likely to include those who have different but often equally strongly held views.

The true strength of democracy is its promotion of the concept of agreeing to disagree of balance and compromise.  A concept that allows people with different views to co-exist without violence.

I see much in the past of Mrs Palin that would indicate she disagrees with the concept of agreeing to disagree in fact she describes herself as a pitbull.  I regard such an approach as essentially undemocratic.
