"I think to most Americans, [Bristol Palin's pre-marital fornication] is another welcome to everybody's kitchen table. Everybody has challenges that are challenges to their family, but I think moms and dads who have to deal with questions like this, who have to figure out how to pay their bills, who have to figure out how to make a small business work [huh? how did he slip this in there?], I think that is something that the American people understand and they appreciate." What, running a small business? What are we talking about here? Roy Blunt is saying Americans appreciate sin when it's the daughter of a would-be Republican Vice Presidential candidate. God only condemns Liberals who break his Word. The hypocrisy of the Evangelical movement is exposed every time another Republican is caught violating the standards to which they hold the rest of America and can't meet themselves. For instance: they defended Republican Mark Foley when he was caught sending salacious text messages to underage pages and called liberals "gay-bashers;" Republican gay-bashing Senator Larry Craig is still the Senator from Idaho despite his arrest in the Minneapolis airport for soliciting sex from a male undercover cop; Ted Haggard, former leader of the National Association of Evangelicals and head gay-basher was revealed as a homosexual meth-addict.
Now conservative Evangelicals are rushing to the rescue of another high-powered Republican. Evangelical interpretation of the Bible changes as often as the weather. They'll do anything to protect Republican politicians and corporate interests. Evangelical Christians in this country ought to be ashamed of their leadership. Leave the church; faith in works.
