For OpEdNews: Cathy Lynn Pagano - Writer As we emerge
out of the cave of our Scorpionic depths this month, we might find that we need
to expand our vision of life. Something
has died within us so that new life can eventually grow. But before the new life arrives, we are left
in a state of chaos and confusion. We need a philosophy that can encompass the
changes we're going through. This Full
Moon shines on how our minds cope with these changes. The best way to
understand life is to see the Big Picture. We need to find meaning for our
life's experience, and we do that through the lens of our core beliefs and
values, and through our myths and stories.
And this month with the Sun in Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius, we get that
chance to broaden and deepen our mental horizons, so that we might seek the
wisdom to understand what to do with our life.
What stories resonate with your heart?
Which story points out your path?
What do they say about life? Sagittarius
points us to the center, or womb, of the Milky Way galaxy, our cosmic home. This womb represents the root chakra of our
galaxy, while Gemini, the sign opposite Sagittarius, symbolizes the crown chakra
of the galaxy. The axis of our galactic
World Tree goes through the two signs of the zodiac which represent the
Mind. We need to question all our
beliefs so that our minds are open to creating a new paradigm of life. A new Big Story.
So what is the womb of our galactic home birthing? For the first time in approximately 26,000 years, for the next few years, the Capricorn Sun will rise in the womb of the Milky Way Galaxy, giving birth to a new cycle of life. What basic truths lie at the core of this cosmic birth? One universal truth says that when we learn to control and use the mind in proper balance with our hearts, we can become co-creators of the world. So think of this month as a mind tune-up. Is your mind full of fearful beliefs, negative voices, old truths that are no longer valid?
This time of year between Thanksgiving and Winter Solstice (and associated religious holidays) has always been a time of preparation and expectation. The Catholics call it Advent, (from the Latin word adventus, meaning "coming"); it is the period of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus.
But you don't have to be Catholic to use this time as a preparation for a new birth. We all intuit that this time is a preparation for the return of the Light of the World. Winter Solstice, the darkest day of the year which is also the re-birth of the Light in the Northern Hemisphere, has always been a sacred season. In these days of preparation, it makes sense to ponder the meaning of life, especially now that Western culture is being faced with its Shadow of greed, hypocrisy, environmental ruin and continual wars. Our shadow is no longer hidden, but out there in plain view. How will we collectively deal with it? How does it affect our personal lives?
Sagittarius offers us the experience of looking into the Big Stories behind life, the deep core values that can elevate humanity and help us remember how to live grounded in Nature and connected to the Whole. Sagittarius is always seeking the truth, and yet one of the faults of this sign is that once he discovers that truth, he often dismisses the validity of anyone else's truth. Instead of openness and tolerance, Sag can get caught up in his own version of things. So Sagittarius needs the open-minded knowledge and willingness to learn of Gemini to balance out his insistence on his own version of the truth.
With Sag's ruler, Jupiter, now approaching its 3rd conjunction with Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius, (with Chiron on December 7th and with Neptune on December 21st), and the Sag Sun forming a quintile (a creative soul alignment with the Cosmic Will) to it, a new vision of our collective life as well as our natural curiosity about life's possibilities can lead the way to new interests, new philosophies, new truths. Expand your awareness, cross into new frontiers and lift up your eyes to some eternal truths. The dark times we are living through are part of the cosmic plan. You can despair or you can wait with hope and expectation that something new will arise â€" something better can arise.
11* Gemini Full Moon, December 1 @ 11:30pm PST/December 2 @ 2:30am EST
12 hours before the Full Moon, Uranus changes to direct motion. The planet of sudden change and surprises jacks up the energy for this full moon. What were you focused on when Uranus went retrograde on July 1st- it might take an unexpected turn now. Uranus ultimately wakes us up to new realities.
The Sabian Symbol for 23* Uranus stationary direct: A materializing medium giving a séance. This image speaks of concretizing your vision in some way. Your intention can create a new reality, but you have to put your heart and soul into it.
This Gemini Full Moon brings us the awareness of what we discovered at the Scorpio New Moon two weeks ago. It opens us to different perspectives on what happened, and offers multiple possibilities for handling things. So, what did you let go of? What did you discover about yourself? Where is your passion? What is your power?
The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 11* Sagittarius: In the left section of an archaic temple, a lamp burns in a container shaped like a human body. The left is associated with the feminine, with receptivity, with the unconscious. There is an inner light within each of us that we can only contact through a feminine, receptive consciousness. The light is symbol of the wisdom of the body, the wisdom of the feminine.
The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 11* Gemini: Newly opened land offers the pioneer new opportunities for experience. It is time to face the future, which offers us new possibilities if we have the courage to go forward. This image speaks of the power and joy of new beginnings, and the ability to rise to the occasion.
This Full Moon lights up our instinctual wisdom, which can empower us to rise to the occasion and meet our future with hope and courage.
