So what is the womb of our galactic home birthing? For the first time in approximately 26,000 years, for the next few years, the Capricorn Sun will rise in the womb of the Milky Way Galaxy, giving birth to a new cycle of life. What basic truths lie at the core of this cosmic birth? One universal truth says that when we learn to control and use the mind in proper balance with our hearts, we can become co-creators of the world. So think of this month as a mind tune-up. Is your mind full of fearful beliefs, negative voices, old truths that are no longer valid?
This time of year between Thanksgiving and Winter Solstice (and associated religious holidays) has always been a time of preparation and expectation. The Catholics call it Advent, (from the Latin word adventus, meaning "coming"); it is the period of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus.
But you don't have to be Catholic to use this time as a preparation for a new birth. We all intuit that this time is a preparation for the return of the Light of the World. Winter Solstice, the darkest day of the year which is also the re-birth of the Light in the Northern Hemisphere, has always been a sacred season. In these days of preparation, it makes sense to ponder the meaning of life, especially now that Western culture is being faced with its Shadow of greed, hypocrisy, environmental ruin and continual wars. Our shadow is no longer hidden, but out there in plain view. How will we collectively deal with it? How does it affect our personal lives?
Sagittarius offers us the experience of looking into the Big Stories behind life, the deep core values that can elevate humanity and help us remember how to live grounded in Nature and connected to the Whole. Sagittarius is always seeking the truth, and yet one of the faults of this sign is that once he discovers that truth, he often dismisses the validity of anyone else's truth. Instead of openness and tolerance, Sag can get caught up in his own version of things. So Sagittarius needs the open-minded knowledge and willingness to learn of Gemini to balance out his insistence on his own version of the truth.
