Security at OpEdNews is always something we have to factor in, whenever making additions to the site. It's not necessarily that vandals pick out our website. (Although some do.) Instead, they rely on automation to identify vulnerable websites and execute their attacks. Websites, big or small, are targeted daily and the majority of these attacks are automated.

One bright note is that most of these automated attempts to break into websites are known techniques. And can thus be prevented when appropriate code is added to OpEdNews to check for them. We have added a LOT of such code over the years, but hackers are always finding new ways to do their devious deeds. And we are always keeping up with these new ways and regularly adding code for each new technique. It's a sadly needed necessity and something we must keep up with.

The cost is in the neighborhood of $200 a month.
