Tweet: Given the NSA and other government snooper agencies, adding on a militarize police force and the ready deployment of the National Guard, little doubt left as to the deteriorating state of our democracy. The anger acted out in Ferguson is reminiscent of the acts of rage I've been witnessing since Watts in 1965. There was hope then that Newark and Detroit -- both in the summer of 1967 -- would mark the end of Black folks needing to respond violently to injustice to be heard. Then there was L.A. in 1992 after Rodney King was beaten and now we have Ferguson and Michael Brown. That's 50 years of my life and no change! I can only foresee many more years of struggling, continuing beyond my death. On a national level, not too much to give thanks for.

Appears that the police state -- shoot first, ask questions later -- is here!
