Bush knows exactly what he is doing. The Democratic Congress knows exactly what he is doing. The American people think that they know what Bush is doing. The Problem? Well, an old boss once told me when I quit a lucrative job to go into business for myself; "There are those who know, there are those who think they know; and there are those that don't know but think they know." I would say that the majority of Americans fall into the third group, and of course that is the most dangerous group to be in. Just so that we all just think we know, I am going to explain it to you all. If you believe me, well... congratulations, it took me a long time and a lot of help. Maybe it is me who will be proven wrong, but I've always thought that a good journalist is the one that asks the hard questions. To those that know, prove it to me so that I know I'm right, and you'll have a friend for life. To the ones in the third category, the fact is nobody knows if they are in the third category. This is all about oil. Oil for America, oil for the future. The future will run for about another 35 years. After that; between global warming and anarchy because of the worlds economic systems going down the doesn't really matter. If anyone has seen the old Mel Gibson movie "Road Warrior", you can imagine. Without fossil fuels, this world will be back to the middle ages in a flash or how fast can you say "out of gas?" Just about the only way this world is going to keep a semblance of civilization is to start working on alternative and renewable sources of fuel in the way that Noah started his mythical work on the Ark. Either that, or the think tanks in the world group up and exchange ideas, and go to work on an Earth sized "Manhattan Project". Bush's plan of grabbing the world's oil is only going to last as long as we can hold on to it. Besides being morally wrong, I've come to the conclusion that if we don't do it, that some other country will, unless we just go ahead, pump it out and ship it to this country. We could of course do the right thing and explain all of this in the United Nations and conserve the fossil fuels now and dole the oil out to all the nations equally, but that would take cooperation and that isn't the human race's strong suit. What Bush is doing now, most nations will try to do sooner or later as this situation becomes more apparent. If the entire world knew and believed that at best we have less than 35 years of fossil fuel left, do you actually think that there wouldn't be a panic? That's why we haven't been told. I just found out last night. I 'm just assuming that the information I have is reliable. This is why I am floating this article. Basically to see who disagrees, who agrees, and why. If I didn't write it, given what I've been told, I would be morally wrong. I just want to hedge my bets and try to save my reputation in the event my information is bad by saying what I've just said, if anyone can follow that logic. So help me out here. Is anyone else aware that there is only 35 years of fossil fuel left? Is this common knowledge and we just don't want to think about it, or is this a big secret that the government doesn't want you to know? I have checked out published estimates and basically, the worlds fossil fuel supply will peak at about 2035 or so and drop like a rock after that. Yesterday I read that Nancy Pelosi confirmed to the Huffington Post that one of Bush's demands from Iraq in order to keep US support, was that 75% of Iraq's oil be controlled by US corporations for US consumption. Before we pull out of Iraq or demand that our government cut Bush's funding for this war, maybe it would be in our best interests to ask Bush, or the people that are controlling or advising him, if oil is indeed what this entire thing is all about. As long as we are claiming it's about "freedom" and "Al-Quida" and all these other reasons that in reality form a huge smokescreen when in fact, the 800 lb gorilla in the living room is actually petroleum, why aren't we talking about it? We're not going to solve the real problems we are facing by talking about everything here but the real reason we have troops fighting and dying in Iraq. It's time that we called a spade a spade and decided what it is that this nation really wants to do. Unless we are asking the right questions, we are not going to get the real information. Now we are back to the original question, There are those that know, those that think they know, and those that think they know and really don't know. Unless we really, really want to know...we won't.
