Dear Governor Spitzer,
We need you now more than ever.
As a citizen, I have supported your political positions and your actions. You made your name going after corrupt Wall Street operations that robbed us all. As Governor, you and Attorney General Cuomo have worked to end the corruption that is truly a public concern: corporate welfare based on purchased political influence.
I don't care what you do with your private life. Work it out with your wife. But your political person is important to me. I don’t want you to abandon the campaigns you have conducted for the sake of a matter that should be the private concern of you and your family.
Ten years ago, President Clinton permitted himself to be publicly humiliated and his political work to be derailed by an irrelevant campaign about personal mores. We, your constituents, supporters and detractors alike, need you to make sure such tactics cannot succeed. Overcome your personal shame. Stand tall and denounce the only prostitution in this case which is of public consequence, and that is the prostitution of the Federal Justice Dept to the partisan interests of a criminal administration.
