Right there, on the front page, was today's top story: Lawmaker's PAC gave Foley $4,999.
The entire story was about my opponent, Roy Blunt's, direct financial involvement with Mark Foley. And the picture on the front page showed my opponent standing right there behind his top boss, Dennis Hastert, who he completely supports in this scandal.
According to the article, 5 months ago, my opponent, Roy Blunt, gave Foley the maximum PAC contribution of $5,000.
Public opinion is demanding the truth.
Consider these facts:
Roy Blunt was the Majority Head of Congress last fall when Foley's emails were exposed to the Speaker.
Mark Foley was Roy Blunt's Deputy Whip, and worked directly under Roy Blunt, as part of the Republican leadership committee. This committee is made up of the top 3 Republicans in Congress: 2 of those 3 includes Hastert and my opponent, Roy Blunt.
And where does my opponent, Roy Blunt, stand on this? Well, as of today, his spokesperson denies Blunt had 'no prior knowledge' of these emails. And as of this morning, Blunt was quoted as saying he completely supports and stands behind Hastert, the Speaker, and knows he will get through this, and remain Speaker.
My opponent, Roy Blunt, was Foley's boss on the Leadership Committe, and gave Foley the maximum amount for Foley's re-election campaign this year.
And he knew nothing about these emails?
I find that very hard to believe.
