The only _plan_ the Republicans have for fixing the economy is to do the same sh*t that broke it in the first place.   Problem is, they _can't_ publically _talk_ about how they're going to give still more kickbacks to rich people, de-regulate everything all over again, and continue to slash all the programs that help poor-and-struggling Americans.   They can't admit their rich-oriented plan to "fix' the economy (for their own benefit) because they know it would *cost* them so many votes that they'd surely lose the election.

So?   What's a Republican politician with _no_ new ideas to do?   Easy!   Focus on the "moral issues" (i.e., God, guns, abortion prevention, and gays).

Rich folks and corporate/business-types know what's going on here.   So they simply tune out this "moral issues" blather because they know it's only real purpose is to keep the rubes on board;   for without the rube votes (the rubes might just vote their wallets), the Repugs would certainly lose.   You see, if the economy improves too much between now and November, that would be a disaster for the Repugs (which is why they've done everything they could to prevent an economic recovery on Obama's watch -- it's why they had to keep Obama's stimulus package from being too large and thus too effective).

In other words, if the Repugs can just keep the rubes all riled up about all those "slutty" single women using birth control and the "moral decay" of the "family unit," and such, the rubes might once again be persuaded to just vote with their emotions, on "moral issues," rather than take the time to rationally understand how Republican (and Bluedog dem) politicians helped break the economy in the first place:   by giving kickbacks and fat tax breaks to rich people, ending Glass-Steagall, deregulating everything, cutting back on regulators and regulatory power, allowing banksters & Wall St. speculators to go hog-wild, busting unions, making sure the Bush tax cuts for the rich weren't allowed to expire, and slashing all the programs that help the economic victims of their handiwork (i.e. the poor, including the nouveau poor who have, by the means just outlined, recently been driven out of the middle class).

Several years after receiving my M.A. in social science (interdisciplinary studies) I was an instructor at S.F. State University for a year, but then went back to designing automated machinery, and then tech writing, in Silicon Valley. I've (more...)
