Voting rights battles have been traditionally between Republicans and Democrats, (now, more frequently intra party mischief as well), but there is a new player who may just expose and force the issue of voter restrictions, fraud and incorrect vote counting: Russia.
Because their hand has been exposed in the release of the Democratic National Committee emails and activity in the Arizona and Illinois elections, the FBI has issued a nationwide alert warning states of foreign hacking in their Republican created electronic election systems.
This stunning admission and warning is really only a logical sequence starting from even before the Diebold machines, whose Republican CEO guaranteed a Bush Ohio victory before voting had begun on Diebold machines, to the current electronic election machines that can be hacked or results changed without a trace! This election fraud is only one part of the voter control pushed by Republicans.
Now, another group is doing the same thing as what the Republicans have been doing for some time, but this time the issue of voter manipulation will get some media attention because it is foreign originated. It has been essentially accepted, wink wink, that the Republicans have done it and are doing it, but a different story when the Russians are involved.
So, we must thank the digital intelligence campaign by the Russians for exposing to the average person that voter manipulation can and has been accomplished. The Soviets had a Disinformation Department, which is now thriving under the Russian flag: "The role of nonmilitary means of achieving political and strategic goals has grown, and in many cases they have exceeded the power of force of weapons in their effectiveness" wrote Gen. Valery Gerasimov in 2013, Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. The pen is mightier than the sword.
Stalin was partially right when he said that "the people who cast the votes do not decide an election, the people who count the votes do." The Republicans have fine tuned this attack by not only preventing fair vote counting, but passing laws preventing people from physically voting-through their many Voter ID restrictions aimed mainly at people of color, Latinos, students and those in Democratic voting geographic areas. The five hour voting wait in Arizona was no accident. It was planned by the Republicans, by closing down 200 of the 400 polling facilities, just one example of one of the GOP strategies nationwide. Whenever long lines are shown on the news, do you ever see primarily white voters standing around for hours? No, the people standing in line have been targeted by the Republicans as likely Democratic leaning.
This is only one Republican tactic of voter suppression, some of which are being thrown out by the courts.
Most of this stuff is known to many, but the press does not cover this very well because it would have to say, that, yes, our system IS rigged. Slightly a bit of an embarrassed blush to admit that only some can actually vote and only some votes will be counted by the electronic machines manufactured by the Republicans which can be manipulated without a trace. And, now the Russians can and have done it as well!
Remember the images of vote counting for Brexit? People, human beings actually counting the votes! We cannot and will not count votes accurately by hand because of the Republican preference for no trace electronic voting machines. Mix in eliminating places to vote and all the other restrictions, well, we have a rigged system.
This has been written about for over a decade, but basically ignored by mainstream media. Now, thanks to the Russians, we are being forced to confront the reality of voter manipulation, control and fraud, so I thank the Russian and foreign hackers for getting involved in our election system in the same manner as has the Republican Party. The country might now be made to address and change the vote counting system installed by the Republicans, now being hacked by outside groups and governments.
Who has benefited from this voter control manipulation and suppression? Who created a non traceable or accountable system of voting? Republicans.
All the hoopla now concerns the top of the GOP ticket and the Dems are ignoring the downline candidates and elections. This has been a calculated strategy, to try and woo "normal' Republicans away from Trump. Let's not forget that they may not vote for Trump but any Republican in the voting booth will vote for any and all other Republicans!
These are the people, all elected officials from Senators to School Board to Supervisors, who make up the government. And who make and pass laws and bills which permit machines made by them to count votes without a trace of verification.
Trump IS the Republican nominee. His temperament is clouding the fact that he and all the other 16 Republican candidates agree on nearly every issue except trade and immigration:
climate change, social and justice issues, abortion, religious tolerance, corporate profits over public interests, job creation, teachers, Obamacare, voter ID laws, voting reforms and restrictions, Benghazi, the environment, student debt, Supreme Court, guns, regulations, tax rates, NRA, and racial and political questions. Trump and the GOP are in agreement on nearly everything. Why give the Republicans a free pass by the Dems and their talking heads to maybe gain some votes?
Trump and Putin, why are the Russians seemingly favoring him over Clinton? That is an entirely different subject, but what it illustrates is the new interconnection of international espionage and interests by foreign participation in US elections. If they can hack into the DNC and states, then, finally, we have to take voter machine manipulation seriously!
