I am in Village of Butler, Waukesha Co., WI doing a citizen's exit poll in the poll parkng of. When the poll closes we will go inside and watch the counting. Then go to Butler Inn and do a public counting of our citizen ballots. We were given one parking space to be in and told to stay off the side walks. Election officials say that complaints about us were called in, that we were obstructing traffic and rushing the voters. We do have to kind of rush to get to them before they get to their cars after they vote. We were told not to approach them before. Police earlier said if they got one more complaint on us we would have to leave. But we've been good.
Menomenee Falls people have joined us, after they were forced to STAY 100 feet from the entrance. We are allowed to go up to people near the door. GAB has decided that what we are doing is electioneering because the ballots we are using have the candidates names on them. This is after they said it is not electioneering and we could be set up 10 feet from the polls. Now they say the people are not allowed to hold our ballots, which ruins the part about how they were supposed to be able to vote on them privately, fold it, and put it in the box themselves.
And 84 year old woman named Mary is on the board of Trustees here. She appreciates what we are doing. We told her all that is going on. She decided to go back in after she voted and be an observer, which seemed to make them nervous, she said. The machine is already off on it's counting, as of this morning I believe.
