The withholding of Senate salaries to enable the Three Month Debt Extension is a big laugh since the Senate's median net worth is $2.63 million! If senators are dependent upon their pay from the government, they should not be spending our money. Also they are able to get paid later whether they do their job or not! This is a game the legislature plays with the public. If Congress cannot develop and pass a logical budget, then the people should make the budget. The solution is for thebudget to be determined by the taxpayers. On the tax return there shouldbe a section to select the percentage of their taxes that go to each agency or department. These would be tabulated and made into the budget of the United States of America. Ten percent could automatically be assigned to basic operating expenses of the government. Entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare are paid for through their own systems offunding so would not be part of the budget. If we are a democracy, then let the people decide how their money is spent. People who want a big military can allocate more to the military while those who like parks and wildlife can designate that area where most of their tax money goes. It is time to let the people make the budget, not millionaires. I would like to know how many elected members of Congress have and follow a personal budget. How can we expect people who don't use a personal budget know how to pass a federal budget? It is time for a change in the making of a budget for the United States of America.
