Our foolish president has stirred up another Cold War without any significant reason. Did he really expect Russia to give up its largest, and only, warm water naval port in Crimea? And would the world have been a better place if that high-powered military installation went to bankrupt and unstable Ukraine? As for Eastern Ukraine, an election there would have resolved the assimilation issue peacefully, as would any number of diplomatic solutions. In the past, the U.S. has dealt with the Soviet Union, Cuba and and any number of countries with worse records than Russia. If Obama backs us into WWIII, he won't be known as the president who led the world into a conflagration, because there will be no one left to write history. |
