Serious Materials, an energy-efficiency company in Sunnyvale, will remove, disassemble and rebuild the Empire State Building's 6,514 windows to cut the skyscraper's utility bills.
The work will be done at night and on site, with the windows refurbished in a "micro-factory" on the building's fifth floor. The project, announced Wednesday, should be finished by December, said Kevin Surace, the company's chief executive officer. |
