What we saw this past election – states undoing important safeguards, bypassing the proper legislative processes, and changing election laws in the eleventh hour – was deeply troubling and brought chaos and uncertainty to our sacred democratic processes.”
If these words of RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel are correct--and the research is being done and will continue--the issue is nothing new and the outcome may be formidable. At least two state legislatures are attempting to allocate to themselves appointment of presidential electors to override voters' choices.
I anticipate fierce deadlocks as this issue ascends to dominance over presidential elections and then others. Might they throw out elections altogether? Is this the future of "democracy"?
Or will other issues intervene?
