The dual disasters of global warming and a bankrupt national Treasury demand rapid, radical change. It's hard to envision either of the major parties advocating anything but politically safe policies. To continue supporting them in these times of crisis is nothing short of treasonous.
I should also provide a few details about the cost of US militarism. Our current military budget exceeds $1.1 trillion. Divide that by 308 million Americans and each and every one of us is chipping in roughly $3667 every year. Taken over a lifetime, that's more than $250,000 per person. For a family of four, the price exceeds $1 million! No wonder Americans are having trouble paying for college, funding public education, repairing our aging infrastructure, paying for quality health care and providing for a secure retirement. It's military madness and it has to stop.
