I am 57 years old, married, with three grown up children. I live by the sea in Wallasey, on the tip of the Wirral peninsula, opposite the city of Liverpool in the UK. I am a foster carer and a writer. Until 1998, I kept a dark secret. I had been sexually abused as a child at a school run by the Salesians of Don Bosco, and ordered to stay silent when, in 1968, I told them what was happening to me. But, in 1998, I broke my silence and fought back against those who had abused me and then tried to keep me quiet. I have since written a book about what happened in my struggle for justice.
