Nicolas Maduro Wins Venezuelan Presidential Elections SHARE
"Here is our message to the American Empire: Venezuela is the key to stability in the Latin American region, and Chavismo is the key to stability in Venezuela" - said Maduro upon announcement of the results by Venezuelan National Electoral Council: Maduro had 5,8 million votes, the leading opposition candidate Henri Falcon 1,8 million votes among 8,6 million people who went to cast their vote. The results of the elections to Legislative Councils in country's States are still to be announced.

Minute to Minute: Cuban President at site of accident SHARE
There are 3 survivors in critical condition from DMJ972 flight with intended route from Havana, the capital, to Holguin, in the East of Cuba. Although it was a domestic Cuban flight, the plane was rented and the crew was Mexican. In total there were 104 passengers and 9 crew members. Right after taking off the plane had taken a brush turn to the right, and there is no more technical information on the event at this moment.

In Washington and Miami they apparently consider that flights and cruise ships arriving to Cuba is something that went kinda out-of-control, so they tighten up the blockade ("embargo") and put pressure on family relations (Cubans wishing to travel to the USA now have to request visas in Georgetown, Guyana) in desperate attempt to provoke some trouble in Cuba like they just did in Nicaragua and like they're doing constantly in Venezuela. But don't fall for lies.

Afghan Saur Revolution 1978: what it achieved, how it was crushed SHARE
To tell the
truth, I hesitated to link this post: on one hand it lays the chronology of the
events and explains honestly the conditions the Revolution faced, but on the
other, it shows an ideological bias (socialist and anti-Stalinist one) perhaps
more than other posts from this site analyzing situation in different countries
or episodes from History. I can't assure that all the information is 100%
accurate: Russian and former Soviet sources offer different versions of the
relationship between PDPA's Khalq faction and the Soviet Union. What is hardly
in discussion is the origin of the so-called "Muslim" Fundamentalism
in West's dealing trying to topple the "pro-Soviet" regime. The post
is certainly valid as food for thought.

When Daniel Ortega got re-elected with more than 70% of the votes in 2016 (the elections took place 2 days before American elections which gave Trump his victory), the Somozist opposition cried fraud (without presenting any evidence, as usual) and called Ileana Ros-Lehtinen who cooked up the so-called Nica Act which she dragged through the US House of Representatives. Now the Govt is facing the difficult task to reform the Social Security Institute and system. The private interest groups, however, decided to use it for violence and subversion following the Venezuelan-Syrian-Libyan scenario.

Diaz-Canel Bermudez is to be allowed a 2-term mandate only, according to Constitutional Reform still to be made. The session of Cuban National Assembly closed down on the 57th anniversary of Revolutionary Cuba's victory over Bay Of Pigs invaders.

Six reasons why Putin's victory has frightened the West SHARE
...the West doesn't (want to) understand the very contradiction between "democracy" and national interests in ANY country. "National Security" of any other country is seen as "dictatorship", "democracy" is conceived only as a Govt with pro-Western traitors in power. And worse when - as it happens in this case - when people in the "other" country finally understand it and vote willingly for "dictatorship". RAUL CASTRO CONFIRMS OFFICIALLY HIS DEPARTURE FROM PRESIDENCY OF CUBA ON APRIL 19, 2018. This is the official speech at the closing session of Cuban National Assembly in which the still President examines the events of 2017 - GDP growth 1,6% despite the hurricane impact - and international events such as the setback in the US-Cuba relations. The hurricane impact delayed the elections calendar so the end of the Legislature initially scheduled for February had to be prolonged until March 25 and the election of the new Council of State by the Assembly will take on April 19.

The Festival had started back in 1978 focusing on the New Latin American cinema - films portraying continent's burning social reality.
