Peter Dearman is a Canadian teaching English and living in Taiwan. (edit) Now he runs a bar too. He is concerned about the generally high level of bad things happening in the world today, especially on the matters of depleted uranium, repression in Burma, stolen elections, organ harvesting, Islamophobia, aspartame, sugar, species depletion, animal abuse, ocean pollution, helium depletion and likely several other things too, like 9/11.
He holds a Bachelor of Science with honours (major in Biology) from Acadia University, a Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Concordia University and a Certificate in Teaching English to Young Learners from Trinity College of London.
He was editor or co-editor of the Acadia University student newspaper, Athenaeum, for two years and chair or co-chair of the Acadia Environmental Society student group for three years. He is a past member of the Council of Canadians.
Now, he runs a bar.

Who says "they" are not trying to kill us? CFL lighting, now mandatory in many developed-world jurisdictions, are extremely hazardous and release enough mercury vapor when broken to seriously harm a child. Furthermore, most of them emit a dangerous cocktail of toxic vapors even when used normally. They don't even last very long! This great investigative report explains all. You will probably be shocked well beyond your wildest expectations, but this is no conspiracy flick, just a solid report by some great journalists.

Canada's Senate is an unelected legislative body said to provide "sober second thought," before bills become laws, yet it rarely challenges the decisions of the House of Commons. Last week, however, on a day most Liberal Party Senators were absent, the Conservative Senators killed the House-approved Climate Change Accountability Act in a surprise vote. FAITH-BASED VOTING? The victory by Republican Scott Brown over supposed shoo-in Martha Coakley was taken and trumpeted as a "sign" of the Tea Party's rise to influence. But the vote was 97% electronic with absolutely no audit mechanisms used. Where votes were counted by hand, the Democrat Coakley defeated Brown by a margin of 2.8%; where votes were counted secretly by machine, Brown defeated Coakley by a margin of 5.2%.
