I am a healthcare activist, a professor of literature, and a writer. My books have been scholarly--on literature--but I have also written for newspapers, mostly on the need for single payer healthcare. I am semi-retired from academia, married, and live in Philadelphia now. I was in the civil rights movement in the north and in the south, in the early women's movement, and I continue to consider myself a fighter for equality above all else. This for me now means an emphasis on economic equality.
