Thurman Hart says that the reason he writes is to show that "a Christian Liberal is not an oxymoron." He holds a Master's Degree in Political Science from the University of Central Florida and specializes in Public Policy (energy and taxation) and American Politics (electoral politics and the use of rhetoric). He teaches Political Science at the New Jersey City University. He writes regularly for the NJ Voices feature at the Newark Star-Ledger and contributes to New Jersey's the leading state and local politics blog, Blue Jersey. He also maintains his own blog at Xpatriated Texan and has been active in building an online presence for people of good faith and progressive politics. With Rachel Barrenblat of Velveteen Rabbi, he organized and hosted the first Progressive Faith BlogCon. In the past, he has contributed to The American Prospect's Midterm Madness election updates as well as longer essays concerning the misuse of federal attorney subpoena power and efforts to end the privatization of the IRS.
